Honestly, I'd significantly increase his incentives and leave base alone.

The thing here is that he got left at the alter last season and had to rebuild almost the whole thing. He went heavy seniors. That's concerning. Just because he did an entire rebuild once with the portal doesn't mean that's an efficient and consistent business model. Because I don't believe it is. I think you can patchwork with 1 year guys, but the nucleus has to be 2 year guys in hopes to run it back while patchworking with 1 year guys again.

NT should do what they can to retain both basketball coaches, however both coaches will leave at some point if they continue to excel.

This is the future of any successful team not in a first tier conference.

Enjoy the ride, it will not last long.

Using the portal in this manner is something I would just assume he would be good at. You pretty much have to be ready to lose guys every one to two years as a juco coach and he was always good at reloading. If anything… this might play well into his experience.

He was rewarded with the job; without a search. Great job thus far but less than 2 years on the job is still risky. If he's hired away, we just have to find someone else willing to be paid $700k. We don't have the money to get crazy. I believe in heavy incentive-laden contracts to supplement the base. Different sport but Deion Sanders sells the house out and has brought much national attention to the program. His impact has paid for an increase/extension Our basketball attendance hasn't increased enough to support a meaningful increase. (yet)

We do have the money to at least match what Mac got. It’s simple to me… all I know is I don’t forget what it was like before Hodge and Mac. And I don’t ever want to go back there. Hell I loved JJ but I don’t even want to go back to that either. I think he has more than proven what he brings to the table and I simply want to do what it takes to keep that here.
