I love how we have that SDSU swagger for the American.

On the postgame show tonight Coach Mills said he believes we are the best team in the league. He praised Memphis but said that our defense travels and he was proud of how his team played us.

The Roundhouse rocks and their fans had a blast. Did their best to will them to a win. There is so much pride in their program from their Valley days and run to the Final Four in 2013.

Let’s rock the Superpit on Saturday! Our boys are going to put on a show for us!

Just as important...we need to Pack the Pit to let him know how much his industry is appreciated.

UTSA plus pre-game tailgate and reasonable start time SHOULD bump attendance up on Saturday.

Isn't he at 700k? What's the going rate to keep our people? Someone not going 80 down the freeway look up comps, etc.

I would think at minimum 1 million.  Yeah, you and I got in the wrong profession I know.

Really need the Shockers to return to their former glory. Their fans are awesome and passionate. Would be a HUGE boost to the image of American basketball.

Grant was at $1mil when he finally got poached. Ross will hit that number very soon.

Let's have him actually accomplish something in the postseason like Grant did before we got an extend him, like we did for Littrell, who never rewarded us for that loyalty and cost us a ton in the end.

I like Hodge, especially at his current cost. But getting him to a $1 million annual contract needs to involve an AAC title of some sort and/or NCAA Tournament wins.

$1mil won’t keep Ross if it’s a power conference school with more $ and attendance than we can offer.   Most of these young coaches and admins are ladder climbing.

Once bitten, twice shy...   I get it.

And it was one thing to have success with 2 key ballers that came in under McCasland (Jones/Scott), then add some pieces around them...  but it's something else entirely when you have to replace your top 6 scorers from the previous season (Dello is the leading returning scorer from 23-24)... and get better.
This season is already a tremendous coaching success.  Not only for his X's/O's, but certainly with getting these guys to buy-into his system which is not flashy offensively, and extremely demanding defensively... generally, not a player's favorite system to play in.

There's a reason NT was picked to finish 7th in the preseason poll!   Coach Hodge & the guys are playing with house money sitting #1 in the AAC right now.  The fact we're all chatting about at-large bid possibilities if we don't win the AAC tournament is a testament to the job he's done this year so far.  Dig out a win on the road Feb.3, and this talk will get much louder.

I'd bump his base a bit but let's see how the season plays out. Also, some coaches are incented on attendance as well. Not sure we can sustain success bringing in mostly seniors each year and not developing underclassmen.

I totally get it and as I said. I like Hodge a lot...especially at his current cost for what he has done and is doing. Just saying that before we raise his salary considerably, I want to see him to do something like Grant did, which was win a conference title, advance to the NCAA Tournament and actually win a game, as well as a deep run in the NIT or CBI (Making the Final Four or winning the title, as GMac did twice).

He's had one crack at a postseason, and lost in the 3rd round to big-bad FAU, and then the 2nd round of the NIT to the eventual champs.  So it's not like he makes his bowl game and gets spanked.  He's 3-2 in postseason play so far.   Jared may want to start prepping the extension talks.

Yep.  They have a great history, and we are not that far removed from it.

Pay Ross. Have a coach in waiting, in house, just in case Ross gets purged.  Continue the tradition of being a hard-nosed, defensive basketball team.

There is a rare, golden opportunity here.  Keep it going.

Hodge and Burton are not just great strategists and recruiters but most importantly they are great leaders. I am impressed by how well the men’s team plays together and acts towards each other. Same for the women’s team .  You do that through culture and leadership from the head coach and assistants. Culture and leadership can’t be overstated for Burton and Hodge major strengths.

He has accomplished something already. mac has said time and time again the teams success (nit title and conference championships, first round win, etc) wouldn’t have happened without hodge then. Those are every bit of his wins as they are Mac’s. And he has proven to sustain the winning tradition. It seems like he has already proven it. Lock him in and if someone wants to come calling, then make them pay to release him.

He was rewarded with the job; without a search. Great job thus far but less than 2 years on the job is still risky. If he's hired away, we just have to find someone else willing to be paid $700k. We don't have the money to get crazy. I believe in heavy incentive-laden contracts to supplement the base. Different sport but Deion Sanders sells the house out and has brought much national attention to the program. His impact has paid for an increase/extension Our basketball attendance hasn't increased enough to support a meaningful increase. (yet)

Hodge has already proven to be a more consistent winner than Seth ever was.

Seth rode a gamble on an undersized, but high performing, kid to a couple of good seasons.  Hodge has continued (or possibly even elevated) his success from last year with almost an entirely different roster in the NIL era.
