Hmmm. If Graham can get Mason Fine to go to Abilene that might be fun to watch.

Mason Fine To Join Muskogee Coaching Staff Posted: Friday, January 17, 2025 12:49 PM

Fine, who still holds the state record for passing yards (13,081) and touchdowns (166), was most recently seen assisting at the Native American All-Star Game earlier this month in Frisco, Texas.

Graham Harrell made Mason Fine. Look what his “ iddy biddy” QB did his last two years w/o Harrell’s coaching——losses to Charlotte, ODU among others as I believe we even had a losing record his last year. I know that the last pass he threw for NT was a pick six. IMHO one of the most overrated players in NT history.

Wow.
That's... an opinion.

No.  I think most fans would agree that Mason Fine should be in our Hall of Fame.   He brought excitement and wins finally to NT football.  Mason was the only reason Seth got to stay as long as he did.  Once there was no more Mason = no more Seth.

But Mason did get beat up his last two seasons from little to no OL protection.  Much like Chandler Morris was the second half of this season, and Riley Dodge and Vizza during their passing years.  Playing QB at NT can be great, but you need to stay mobile too!

Kinda makes you wonder....   I like Brophy, but he makes around $200k, and is about to get a pay raise with his new "Passing Game Coordinator" promotion...   I wonder how much ACU is paying Harrell to be their OC, and if it ever crossed Morris' mind to pay Harrell basically whatever ACU is paying him (which can't be too much more than what Brophy will make) to be the "Passing Game Coordinator" here so he has another brilliant Leach mind to help call/scheme... and no-doubt, pull really good QBs here?  As nice as Brophy is, I think everyone here can agree Harrell would provide an upgrade there.
What an incredible opportunity missed.

Sounds like a great idea. Many big programs stack talent in the form of former coordinators all over their staff disguised as analysts. My assumption would be Harrell wants to be an OC and we just don't have that position open. If his goal is to get another big OC gig, he's probably better off spending a year as ACU's OC than he is North Texas' "passing game coordinator," though.

I'm not so sure about that.  Have you seen how Graham's offenses have done since he left UNT?  Did you see how terrible his offense was at Purdue last year?  There's a reason he's at an FCS school now.  It seems we have a good thing going on the offensive side of the ball right now, and I'd hate to mess with that from some misguided sense of nostalgia.

Graham Harrell returned to Texas Tech on Sunday, but not to work. The former Red Raider gunslinger was honored at a Tech basketball game for his induction to the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame exploits as a player.

He should get in based on "The Drive" alone.

Hahaha.  I don’t think I really believe it, but I had the same thought.  Possibly my greatest Mean Green moment.

Jim, you feeling ok?

Going into the ‘24 season he owned 27 individual passing records.

He was All Conference all four years he was here.

He’s only a handful of players in our history to make Academic All Conference during three of his four years here.

He either owns or is in the top 5 of just about every passing stat in the “Passing Leader” categories.

In ‘18 he led the nation with completions of 40 or more yards.

Did I mention he owned/owns 27 passing records?
