seems kind of late for rankings, most of the players left their schools months ago, the portal closed weeks ago, if anything its time for a preseason ranking!

Seems accurate to me. We finished 6-7. Every school ranked higher had a winning record. Why do we deserve to be ranked ahead of any of them?

Totally different conversation but the portal has made preseason polls totally useless, except for ESPN to push SEC narrative.  An honest poll would start until week 4 or 6 in my opinion

This time of year, after the transfer window has closed, it would be a proper time for a poll based on recruiting transfers.

true, but a postseason poll should be taken after conference championship week

If transfer rankings were informative, but so far they've proven not. The rankings are not very good generally and since transfers tend to be targeted and experienced you need to evaluate if how critical they are, starting in key position, etc.  One guy can make a huge difference. They aren't there in quantifying it yet
