seems kind of late for rankings, most of the players left their schools months ago, the portal closed weeks ago, if anything its time for a preseason ranking!

Seems accurate to me. We finished 6-7. Every school ranked higher had a winning record. Why do we deserve to be ranked ahead of any of them?

Totally different conversation but the portal has made preseason polls totally useless, except for ESPN to push SEC narrative.  An honest poll would start until week 4 or 6 in my opinion

Off subject, but why would the outgoing president, Joe Biden, provide preemptive pardons, to his family members if they were all so innocent?  Funny that he didn't provide the same protections to Fani Willis, Juan Merchan, Jack Smith and Alvin Bragg.  Why do you think he left them off the list?

But our football team sucks. Defense has been embarrassingly bad, and our offense is exceptionally dynamic between the 20's. If we don't score from 25-40 out, we don't score. I have no idea why teams just don't umbrella us and make us earn every single yard. They would all do what Army did to us.

This time of year, after the transfer window has closed, it would be a proper time for a poll based on recruiting transfers.
