Nice recognition JonnyEagle .. teams really seem to be making a move.  Women and Men BBall teams.

I still scratch my head thinking back on the Highpoint and McNeese games.  Imagine if we had kept the lead in those games.  All things considered however, NT doing well.   Want to see more fans in the stands supporting them!

Those were difficult games for UNT. It's similar when a high major goes on the road and plays a good mid major. Well, we were a mid-major going on the road and taking on good low majors. I don't like that scheduling much like high major fans hate going and playing true roadies at mid majors. It doesn't serve the greatest interest of UNT to go play those games.

We’re on the outside looking in right now, but there’s still a slim chance of an at large.  Need to keep winning..and convincing wins would serve us well.  GMG!

My 0.02: we would need to win out, losing only in the AAC Championship game to the Tigers.  And even then, our chances are not good.  The committee will dwell on our Q1 record.

any additional losses until then would effectively doom us unless we get the auto-bid.

Want to make things even hairier? We lose in the championship game to...someone other than Memphis. Because the Tigers lost in an earlier round.

The committee will almost certainly still give Memphis an at-large, which means we are hoping for a second at-large American bid.  OUTLOOK NOT GOOD.

Follow up thoughts:

I think we are all aware of the many things that go into selection.  But many (or most) casuals think too much of W-L record.  As in, 25+ wins means you're a near lock for an AL.

Just another one of my 0.02 observations: the committee will have a handful of 25-ish-win mid-majors on the outside looking in (most years), and have to also consider all these 15-to-20-win-ish teams from the majors.  This is where Quad 1 opportunities come into play.

It's unfair, because quality midmajors like us sit on a s.t.ru.g.g.l.e.b.u.s. trying to schedule more Q1 opportunities, while those majors get tons of them just by virtue of being in their conference.  So, by sheer luck or chance or whatever,  they pull off 1 or 2 Q1 wins, and thus get the nod.

It's freakin hard being where we are, and getting over the hump.

#24 St Thomas ?

I thought that I have heard of every D1 basketball program. But, this is a first.

They moved up from D111, they were good in football and they had large crowds at their games. Big money backers decided they needed to move up and they did.

We will need to finish the reg season 24-6 with our only remaining losses coming on the road to FAU and UAB. Can't lose at home and can't lose to anyone else other than those two, if at all.

Then, we will need to make it to the AAC semis and have a pre-selection record of 26-7. This would put us in an identical outlook as our 2023 NIT championship team. We would be mid to high 30's in the NET. Would the committee dare leave us out again? Would we break out record of the highest NET ranking to not earn an at-large bid?

That was the year that showed me how the committee views us (high Mid Major success) with poor Q1 record.

I'm just going to be skeptical until they show me otherwise.  And yes, I think they would dare leave us out again.

Biggest issue is that we no longer have any Quad 1 games and will be favored in all but maybe the away trip to UAB. It will be really hard to move up in the NET rankings and if we lose a couple of games, we will drop, especially at home. None of that really matters as much as getting a top four seed for the AAC tournament so we get the double bye and would only need to win 3 games in 3 days. Memphis is the only AAC team that has a chance for an at large bid. They have the Quad 1 wins and strength of schedule to give them a chance. Beat Temple!!! GMG
