The PAC needs to have an 8th full member before July 1st 2026 to keep their FBS designation. They don't have time to wait for options. They need to get schedules, and media partners settled.  TxSt pays $5M to get out of the SBC, a very accessible number.

This gets the PAC to their first goal of full football membership before 2026.

It also paves the way for entry into Texas.  Perhaps at the suggestion of media advisors?

Further expansion later to set up a possible Eastern Division of the PAC is predicted by several fan forums.

PAC West:  Wash St, Ore St, Fresno St, Boise St, Utah St, SDSU

PAC East:  Colo St., Texas St,  "X",  "X", "X", "X"

Yes, the media partners are definitely interested in central time zone slots. It gives them more windows of inventory as well as exposure in the more populated areas of the country.

If there is a possibility of a move as a block now or in the future we need to be doing all we can to be one of those teams.

This all may happen!

But just for the sake of devil's advocate: we've already known that Texas State has been talking to them, and this video confirms that they are not aware of any invite being extended.

5 days ago (I am referring to your video above): Bobcats clearly lobbying...and probably lobbying aggressively.
3 days ago: aggregate JUCO Football account tweets that the move will be happening.  Provides no source.  Also tweets randomly about the Buffalo Bills.

Oh I agree it's all just smoke to this point.   But the PAC must have one more FBS football program to be a viable conference for 2026.

I don't see the PAC wasting time to elevate an FCS school.  Of the available FBS programs, from SBC or CUSA, that could afford to leave (and not joining the MWC) the best is probably Texas State.

These Bowl scenes and videos from their Bowl with us show their fanbase excited and loud...

Yes, that's what I was referring to, maybe my wording didn't come off that way. I should have worded it more clearly and said since the PAC was traditionally a western conference adding teams in the central time zone that's more populated is what media partners would want.

That's all great, but if we have the opportunity to play basketball with Gonzaga, SDSU, Utah State, Boise, and possibly even St. Mary's, you damn well better take that opportunity very seriously and do whatever can be done to alleviate that 27M to get us to this basketball conference. After all, we are a #basketballschool.

More PAC "fans" wanting something to happen...

Going out west with TX State and UTSA would be awesome, especially if they also added St Mary's for hoops. That should be a no-brainer, but I can see Texas State going out there solo and doing great. I still think UTEP will get in there before its all said and done, too.

Let's hope the dept. is doing their due diligence and looking at this thing from every angle. I think we have to remember that we just got done giving up 2 years of conference distribution from CUSA (including our 2 NCAA games in 2021, and FAU's final four run), exit fees from CUSA, having to pay entrance fees for the AAC, and we'd have to give up distribution and pay exit fees again if we leave the AAC.

I'm not saying we don't consider it, but we have to go for a deal that makes sense. For instance a partial share deal for the PAC would be a non-starter.

Of course. Something to remember is the PAC NEEDS an 8th member for football. In other words, they need us more than we need them, at least in the short-term. That alone gives us some bargaining power. The MWC schools got help paying their buyout from the PAC's war chest. Why can't we demand a bit more of the NCAA tourney credits for the next few years to help pay our buyout? Considering we're a fringe tourney team as it is, it doesn't seem like much to ask for.

Tx schools would help PAC with their central time zone problem.

Yup. And something else to consider is the stability of the new PAC. They were all just snubbed by the BIG10 and BIG12. Several eastern AAC schools are hopeful the ACC will come calling in a few years when they crumble. The move just makes too sense. I really hope the AD is doing everything possible to make it happen.
