I saw a team down eight with 16 seconds left force overtime once by using the tactic.

Oh, I was in OKC during the NCAA tourney several years ago and UNI got hacked on by ATM and came back from like 12 with under a min to win. It was gross then and it's gross now. UNI was the better team and lost on frankly bullshit. I'm not saying the miracle doesn't happen here and there, because it does, but it's just a fluke when it does and it didn't happen by beating the other team in basketball. It happened by using the rules of the game to tweak the outcome while putting the ahead team in high leverage free throw situations.

Not going to lie, my rear puckered a bit in that final minute. Glad to be done with that game and can't say I'm looking forward to the return game. That's a good team that can put up points in a hurry.

About the hacking crap, I hate it but it's part of the game. On the flip side, if you're up 3 with 10 seconds or less, you can use it to prevent the other team from tying it with a 3 at the buzzer. Just makes the hacking continue a bit longer and as long as you make you're free throws, you're good.

Which is also BS. Let's use nothing related to basketball so they can't go down there and beat us or tie us and eventually beat us in basketball.

Great game!  I'm enjoying watching Lorient improve each week, but if keeps improving at this pace, I'm afraid the portal will snatch him after this season.

I agree. I love the thrill of those final seconds when a team is down 3 and can tie it to force OT. Just pointing out it's a two way street.

Personally, I would welcome a 3rd consecutive intentional foul being ruled a flagrant 1 and every consecutive intentional foul after that continually be ruled a flagrant 1. It's unnecessary/avoidable contact in my opinion. Make it to where the team being fouled has to either take a shot or suffer a shot clock violation to break that streak of intentional fouls leading to flagrant. Essentially force play. I don't know if this would be the right way to go about it but something has to change.

About Lorient, is he the most talented two-way player we've had in say the past decade? I mean, 20 points, 13 rebounds, 5 blocks. Aaron Scott was great and never had such a stat line.

That would be a good start.

I can’t believe he rode the bench at FAU

We need to rethink praising him and letting AI send his resume to some SETHEE program. To be safe, let's refer to him as Lrenen Borient

No offense here Gomez because you are certainly not alone, but damn, have some self-respect and respect on the university you attended. Expect to win. Bitch loudly when you lose (start becoming a losing program).

i have a lot of self respect and i also think the program is criminally underrated by anyone not wearing green. Those two thoughts can co-exist...

it's crazy to think how big this program could have been had a certain five years of the program not existed:

I can't quite recall... but i think we shut the program down for those five years...

Why all the commotion about the intentionally fouling, it has been part of the game as long as I remember.

Do you really want a rule that forces the referees to rule on whether a foul is intentional or just a regular foul?

The late foul strategy seldom works, but IMO it makes the games better than just watching a team holding the ball for 20 seconds every possession till the game is over.

(checks notes and history of basketball)

Fouls are a part of…wait for it…basketball

Free throws are an every game occurrence in…what was that thing called…oh yeah, basketball

Strategy is a part of…say it with me now…basketball

We just have to forget that monstrosity ever existed. Wipe it all out of the brain bank. It's amazing he lasted 5 years. Absolutely amazing. Whoever made those decisions, starting with RV and ending with WB, should be very ashamed. WB shouldn't have waited 1 minute to rip that plug out of the wall. Instead, he waited an entire year.

NC State never wins the '83 title if not for the late fouling strategy.  That also happens to be one of the most memorable runs in March Madness history.  So much so that even 40+ years later it's still talked about.

Sure it can sometimes be a chore to sit through, I agree, but I guess I'm just used it.
