Lorient’s Career Game Propels Mean Green To 76-67 Win Over Temple
DENTON – The UNT men's basketball team remained undefeated at home with a 76-67 win over Temple Wednesday night in a battle between two teams atop the American Athletic Conference standings. Brenen Lorient recorded his first career double-double, scoring 20 points, which tied his career high and grabbing a career-high 13 rebounds and finishing with a career-high five blocks. Lorient has now put up double-digit scoring in five consecutive contests, where he's averaged 17.6 points per game and shot 62.8 percent from the field (27-43). With the win North Texas (14-4, 5-1) now holds the outright lead in the AAC. UNT and Temple (12-7, 4-2) were tied at 4-1 entering the day. "Home court advantages in basketball are real and I think our team felt it," head coach Ross Hodge said of the crowd and UNT student section. "[The game] was about what I expected — I have a ton of respect for Temple and respect for what coach [Adam] Fisher has built there." The Mean Green defense held strong on the night, holding the Owls to their fewest points scored in conference and fewest since Dec. 18 against Davidson. Temple's Jamal Mashburn Jr., who entered Wednesday 12th in the nation in scoring and averaging more than 20 points per game, was held in check by the Mean Green defense, going 5-23 from the floor and finishing with 16 points. Following Lorient in points on Wednesday for UNT was Johnathan Massie who finished with 13 points along with Jasper Floyd and Moulaye Sissoko who each scored 12 points. Sissoko extended his double-digit scoring streak to three games, the longest such streak of his career. The Mean Green continue their brief home stand on Sunday as they host Florida Atlantic. 24/25 MBB Attendance Tracker
For a 4K crowd it was pretty lively but would have hoped more students come out since the semester has already started. I don't know why we can't have better attendance for MBB. It's the best product we have and it's a sport and experience you can cater to the masses including the casuals. It's indoors, in-game experience is decent, games are done in about 2 hours and more times than not you're going to see the home team win. I know we have longstanding attendance issues and apathy, but I really think the university should do whatever it takes and latch on to basketball and just pouring all the resources and marketing to it.- 1

Nice that we hit 4K, but disappointed it wasn't much better given the stakes for this game.
