if you go down injured and have to be helped off the field you have to sit out the rest of that drive

No way. So a player tweaks an ankle, gets it taped up, and they’re ready to play again but they’re forced to sit out that drive? No thanks.

Only if the clock stops. It's part of the downside, however faking injuries would have some real consequences which I think is a good tradeoff. There's never a perfect solution.

I've seen some of these recent games where they were obviously faking injuries to slow things way down, like the Illinois-South Carolina bowl game.  Some kind of action is necessary, or it's only going to get worse.  Either make a rule like this, or give refs discretion to call something like a "flopping" penalty.

If you tweak your ankle there’s a solid chance you need to miss that drive regardless. Ankle injuries are a BITCH.

This rule could also help with player health in general. Rather than rushing someone back into the game when they need to take a break after getting hurt

Definitely need a rule to stop the faking injuries, but I don’t know if I like sitting the remainder of the drive.  My big objection is that “rest of the drive” could be one play or 15 plays.  Maybe have to miss a certain number of plays?  I don’t know, but there needs to be something.

Too bad coaches can’t just play by the rules instead of manipulating things to their advantage.  Actually, this isn’t really manipulating the rules, it’s outright cheating because you know there’s no consequences.

These are STUDENT athletes, most universities will not accept transfers in January because they have limited spots in their classes and they are already full.  Besides, there is still a spring transfer window.

I feel like we've seen it a few times in our games too with our fast tempo offense.

To me, most of the time when an injury is "faked" is when a team is desperately driving for a tie, or a win and they didn't get out of bounds, and they need to stop the clock. When that happens, the clock needs to start immediately when the "injured" player officially leaves the field. AND the only substitutions that are allowed is for the position of the "injured" player.

I see it far more on the defensive side of the ball than on the offensive.
