so, since they will essentially become employees of the university, those state school kids could/should have their salaries published, correct?

I still don't think they become employees, but I do wonder if NIL payment amounts and university total pool money become public knowledge.

I think that both will happen, eventually. The players will be salaried employees, eligibility will not be a thing in the future, since they will be employees. Not good enough for the NFL? Play at the semi-NFL level, where you can still get paid. A guy like Mason Fine, for example, in the future, could be a QB at a school for years and years, even beyond the age of 30...these Power programs will have GMs that manage the roster and hire coaches.

Direct payments from a University to its students to participate in school-sponsored  activities will only lead to more problems in the future.

I fully expect band members and cheerleaders to next want payments, among others.

The need for third-party collectives is over.  Looks like fans now can interact directly with their school’s NIL Exchange.  They will also be able to benefit from the tax write offs now because colleges have that tax exempt status.

We're definitely entering some strange new territory. I do prefer this over what's happening right now though. There is just too much nebulous unknown secrecy over NIL that has way too many chances for little things like unpaid payments, broken promises, to bigger things like tax evasion, fraud, money laundering, sports betting, bribes, etc.

If we get contracts out of this I'd consider that a win, you can do 1 year, 2 year, or 4 year contracts and if someone wants to take a player you can buy their contract out. It gives us a nice bump to develop these players and some money to actually be able to build up a roster.

Good grief. Do these new employees earn money and time towards their state retirement?  Might be a good recruiting tool to use against private schools. Five years on a football team and they are half way to vesting!

If your a public school, these monies have to be disclosed, that's the law. Going to be some interesting days when these deals get shown.
