The gap underneath the proposed endzone facility is a driveway for the service vehicles and 18-wheelers of both teams to load/unload equipment to both locker rooms, dorm cafeteria, etc.  You can see an 18-wheeler on the lower photo.

I have no problem leaving the driveway there and building over it, but the roof is useable space that they are ignoring in these renderings.   Make lodge seating be the slope of the roof.  It would be a great view from there and no sun to stare into!

They are just grass berms that are already there.

Got it. Just looks like weird empty space in the rendering, especially since it appears to be walled off.

Thanks for the response, if they are bent on keeping that for ease of logistics I can see that. But even if you stayed within the driveway's footprint you can get a lot by just going vertical. I did a quick outline on google and this space is roughly 20k sqft. You go up 3 stories and that's 60k sqft to use.

It would obviously be more expensive, but your suggestion of going vertical is spot on.  Close in that end of the stadium somehow to add some overall intimacy to the stadium and keep the crowd noise in.  Add a floor or two of additional suites.  Maybe an elevated walking concourse on either side to tie into each side of the stadium.  If it blocks off the windows of the current AC, so be it.  The windows can overlook a nice atrium.  We just need to win a billion dollars in a lottery!

It's not shown in the rendering but I remember hearing that the central video board would be replaced with TWO video boards on each side that were the same size as the current one. Now maybe that has changed but renderings are not always the final product.

Existing building is more vertical than this. Remove the scoreboard, and go from there. Site lines are very important and you do this with windows and ceiling ht.

Why not go vertical and horizontal?    There are drive throughs under buildings all the time.    expand the AC towards the scoreboard at 2 levels high.    part of that first level will be the drive through, but visually from the stands, it will look like a building.    put a 40yd scoreboard spanning the top of the building and ditch the 2 postage stamp boards in the corners.     the building will look massive, will close off the end to contain sound and could almost be legit.

Ohio State did that with its stadium.  It included dorm rooms (or used to) so they were able to pay some of the original costs with state funding.

I have a feeling that not blocking the view from the AC offices was a factor in not going higher.

I hope the explored all of the options you posted as well as the ones above.

I agree that end zone addition could look better. That addition is a chance to make a statement every time our team takes the field. We need to be more deliberate in developing a unique and impressive structure for that space.

In the last 20 years we have built more facilities than ever and I really can't name one that doesn't look good.  I will trust they will do the same here.

Then again, none of this isn't going to occur unless some $$$ is raised.
