28+ thousand attended. I know TSU out numbered NT fans but was pleasantly surprised by all the green I saw around me. One day we will win a bowl game.

If I told our fans 5 years ago we would have 1.7 million viewers watching a NT vs TSU game on TV.....

This is why we stay in FBS regardless.

A couple of the FCS playoff games barely eclipsed 200k
A couple of them also eclipsed 2 mil

If you can perennially compete for FCS championships, you can feel pretty good about doing better than these lower FBS bowls.

And nonetheless, James Madison a team that played in the most watched FCS Championship Game joined an FBS conference.

Exactly. Seems like every couple years another successful FCS school makes the leap to FBS yet fans on this board keep trying to push the idea it would be worth dropping to FCS if we could compete for championships. Silliness.

It really helped that we were the only game televised .

But it was at 3pm on a Friday, a lot of people were back at work and couldn't watch.

Many will disagree, but this also why we need to setup a Non-Con Rivalry Game with Tx State, fans obviously love it.

I don’t mean this as disagreeing with you, just as a thought.  I think a big draw for TxSt fans is that this is new for them and they are excited about the direction of their program.  In five years if they’re still going 7-5 and playing UNT in the First Responders Bowl, there won’t be near the excitement in San Marcos.

Divisional games we played in FCS generated a lot of excitement Nevada-Reno, ULM, and Marshall all became FBS. The fact that you usually had to win your conference to be invited gave conference championships more meaning. That is the only thing I like about present set up. A four team playoff was merely a popularity contest and never crowned a true National Champion.
