That's pretty daggum nice. They did a great job in design and the money bags cut some big checks.

Is our locker room still pressed plywood lockers with fluorescent lighting? Sigh.

I'm not really sure if you're one of us...or one of them?    We have a lot of trolls infiltrating this board lately, pretending to be North Texas fans.   Prove you are a true fan....what is the origin of the Mean Green nickname??

First, not sure why you highlighted my post? Our lockers do look like pressed plywood and last I saw we did have fluorescent lighting.

As to your slow pitch softball question... According to every ESPN broadcast ever, UNT received its nickname after Joe Greene. Duh.

This is a weird post, NT80. He's posted on here for years and knows more about the program and its issues than 98% of UNT students and alumni.

And google can answer that question in a heartbeat for anyone from anywhere.

Wrong answer.   Turn in your fan card.

Obviously not.  Yes we need all the fans we can get.  There are times and ways to criticize the program without trashing it constantly.

Oh that's easy

UNT football is so mediocre, the one time they had an elite player, a guy named Mean Joe Greene, the school changed their mascot to commemorate him.

A Baylor friend of mine sent me this video, said it's more impressive than the one that they have. It takes a lot of committed donors, to do what they have done.

At 1:17, did he really say, "...they're not only professional football players" when describing the goal to be efficient with the layout?

Joe wasn’t "Mean Joe" until the media gave it to him at Pittsburg…after playing at North Texas.
The defense he played on at NT was called the Mean Green defense by the SID’s wife, thus became a fan chant during games.

So you believe everything you read.  Mean Green, came before Joe Greene ever went to the steelers and had nothing to do with him.

It was accredited to the NT's sports director wife who referred to the North Texas State defense as being the mean green.

This caught on and was used to refer to the NT defense.

It was much later resurrected as the team's name, and heavily promoted by Hayden Fry.

Joe Greene played on the NT defense known as the Mean Green and this moniker followed him to the Steelers.   So the truth is that Joe Greene got his very appropriate nickname from NT, not the other way around.

I don't know about all that. We might need to add an E at the end of Green to get this right. "Mean Greene" has good aesthetics.

I saw the SMU men’s basketball team got EMBARRASSED by Duke the other day. Money can’t buy everything.

At least they get to play Duke on their home court.

Meanwhile, UNT lost to Memphis and nobody gave a shit.

Well, shit, it MUST be true.  Nevermind that AI gives humans 6 fingers on images all the time.

It only took four donors to build Ford Stadium. SMU has unlimited $$$$ to build or buy anything they want. Always best team money can buy.
