  • El Paso Eagle changed the title to Power Conferences making their move to take full control
Posted

I dont see the NCAA giving up control, this is their biggest cash cow, its very successful, its the greatest tournament in American sports.  I think this is more of a tactic, there has been talk of expanding the tournament and other changes, I think the Power 4 want to make sure they have a big seat at the table when those discussions take place.

The NCAA has a bit ore pull when it comes to basketball and the tournament, then they do with football.  The NCAA has a TV deal through 2032, and I just dont see the power 4 being willing to walk away from that anytime soon.

Man F those conferences. Deck is already beyond stacked and they still want more. Can’t compete straight up and without their media machines behind them, gotta now run the selection committees for the CFP and NCAA Tournament. They are bound and determined to cook the golden goose and they are well on their way. NIL, Portal, P4 Autonomy + More now. It’s like they’re trying to chase fans out of this sport.

We knew it. That's why it was all hands on deck hailmary time. The P4 and media companies are coming to screw everyone else.....then they will attempt to screw each other. Every man for himself.

That's why I wouldn't get too comfortable in the ACC....not even in the Big 12

the real world ranking is:

SEC / Big 10

Big 12

ACC

G5

If Clemson and Florida St get what they want and get to the SEC the ACC will go the way of the Pac 12.

Even within the P4, it's really the P2. Ohio State and Georgia don't care about Boston College and Cincy, etc. (or SMU and UH...sorry but it's true)

There's a top 60 or so now. They want it to be the top 30 or so.

Not at all shocked.

They want to be able to push in, for example, a 14-16 Vanderbilt or Northwestern without backlash or cause. Then turn around and tell us how good those two schools really are, and that they just played better competition while losing to almost all of that better competition. While 27-5 schools sit there begging for a bone (14 seed).

I have always felt only 50 schools can remain playing D-1 football. What they don’t address is football drives the bus for all the other sports so eventually the result is termination of athletic programs at all Group of 5 schools..

Here in Florida the SEC homers are using SMU's presence in the playoff to "prove" that the ACC is not a legitimate Power conference. Heard it on Jacksonville sports radio this morning from a host who went to UF.

The game's rigged for the big dogs and they keep making their club more exclusive all the time. Everybody else in the FBS is the Washington Generals. I wish the G5 schools would create their own organization to work together more strongly for a future that doesn't suck.

Sorry, if you don't have an SEC or Big10 patch you're not on any lifeboat.

If that was the case, it would be the Big 10 and SEC are trying to take management of the postseason.

Also the Big 12 media contract is worth almost $3 billion.

Can that change in the future? Sure but as of now, there are 4 Power Conferences.

If there wasn't a difference between the Big 12, ACC and AAC, Memphis, USF, Tulane and Rice wouldn't be so desperate to leave.

Why do you think UT, OU, USC, UCLA, etc wanted out of their cozy P4 Conferences?   They would have an easier shot at the CFP from those....but they know a bigger shift is coming...
