I was flipping channels last night and saw a few minutes of Texas Southern hosting Grambling.  How is Johnny Jones not in our Hall of Fame?

Considering the induction usually takes place in the fall during football season, I would think this would be easy.  I was surprised when I realized he wasn't already inducted.

I feel like that's only been in the last handful of years.  Didn't it used to be in the Spring sometime?

Why should he be?  Jones's record as a HC at NT is 91-89, not exactly HOF worthy.  NT's standard for coaches inclusion is apparently more a result of longevity than success.  

He did have a descent run and a Western Division championship, and was an excellent representative of NT.   So he will get in the HOF.  Frankly, NT just has not historically had enough success to warrant the crazy numbers of hof inductees.

Where did you get those numbers?  He was 190-146 at North Texas with only two losing seasons in 11 years as the head coach.  He took us to our first two NCAA tournaments and was a great representative of our school.

Agree 100% with GrandGreen about UNT's HOF. It is totally embarrassing to bring in (annually) a collection of  average/decent athletes and coaches.    

Jimmy Gales' led 1988 team went to the NCAA tournament

Jimmy Gales record at UNT is also 84-118.  JJ's has the third highest winning percentage behind MacCasland and Blakeley.
