Man, that effort by Mestemaker was amazing…considering everything he had to face, that was a lot to be proud of…

That kid played his ass off...and you'll never see him again

393 yards and 2 TD's passing...96 yards (led the team) and a TD rushing

No. All losses with finesse teams and finesse coaches.

As I said ALMOST the same either way.  We LOST.
The only 2 bowl wins had passing yards of 256 and (Derek Thompson) and 126 (Andrew Smith).

Of course, in the latter one, Cincinnati had 5 turnovers.  That might have contributed a bit to our 5pt win.

You sir are the problem.  Your acceptance of mediocrity is exactly why this football program is losing to lower level programs like Southwest Texas State.

You have to love the idiots who make comments like Southwest Texas State and then most likely get pissed off when people call us North Texas State.

I’ve seen this type of game over and over throughout the years. Glad you had fun losing 😅

It was a better showing than I expected.  But I wouldn’t say fun. 🙄.  That is why I didn’t take off work early to go to this game.  I fully expected that we would be pummeled with a QB that didn’t even start varsity as a senior in high school.  Everybody on this thread should know that Morris is a lock to coach our team most of the 2025 season.  I wouldn’t have hired him in the first place and Caponi shouldn’t have made it to October this season (if brought back at all).   But I am not going accept an invitation for meatloaf dinner and then complain it ain’t steak.  Dam straight I want a steak but that was taken off the menu over 2 months ago. 😂

No sir just stop that.  We lose because we have had crappy Athletic Departments and University leadership that does realize how winning consistently would change the profile of the university.  We aren’t hiring coaches they are.  I sure as hell wouldn’t have hired Morris, Dodge, or Seth.  I might have hired Mac but I sure at hell wouldn’t have let him bring in that old school offense with him.  People like me vote with their presence at games.  That is all we can do.  Bitching on here is a release and I do it often.  But the people making the decisions are not listening to me.  They extended Seth a second time after I let go my season tickets.  So yeah my fault. 🤦🏽‍♂️😂

The QB from North Crowley intrigues me.  Was he recruited at a different position?

No although I think with his speed and skill set he can get some unique field time. I think Drew has a better arm. I am a fan of allowing two guys to split some time. Jimmerson could easily get time though. His speed excites me. Trick plays in coming?

I like the idea of two guys splitting time, but I've never seen it work, so....nah.

Pick the guy that gives you the best chance to win.

I agree yes but hoping it’s Drew but we see Jimmerson in a couple unique sets. Just a couple games and maybe see if we can redshirt him. At least I use to be a huge fan of the redshirt. Now I with the portal bot as much 😕

We have enough trouble running our normal plays.

Didn't realize it but Coleman and Mestemaker both came from Austin Vandegrift. I know we're obsessing over Jimerson and there's also Poffenbarger coming in but maybe developing and starting Mestemaker gets both him and Coleman to stay for 3-4 years and be the pillars a program needs to become special.

I don't agree that he has a "better" arm than Jimerson. Have you seen him play?

  • 4-year starter (6A ball)
  • 9,239 Career Passing Yards
  • 130 Passing TD’s
  • 2,281 Rushing Yards
  • 22 Rushing TD’s State Champion

Like everyone, I was pleasantly surprised with Mestemaker. Looks like we will be covered at the QB position next year. May the competition begin. Jimerson, however, will not take the field as a "Trick Play" QB.

You think he will sit as a backup? I would think he would want some touches. Especially since he turned down opportunities else where to be a receiver at larger schools.
