I watched the whole UT vs Arizona State bowl game yesterday…….and really enjoyed the game.  Two great teams battling it out with Texas securing the win in overtime.

I hold my head in shame.

That running back for ASU had no D1 offers out of high school

That's OK...I usually root for Texas teams, except SMU, which is from Highland Park and not really in Texas.

By that measure the Longhorns are located in the People's Republic of Austin, so not really "Texas" either.

I agree. It was a great game and if I have to choose between Texas and Arizona St, I choose Texas.

I'm generally with you.  But by the end of that game, half of me was cheering for Arizona State.  They left everything on the field.  But UT said, "We're just gonna out-talent you."

That kinda' summarizes some of the problems with the unlimited transfers and NIL.Here's a coach that gives a kid a chance, develops him, and he plays great.
Now, a P2 team with unlimited $'s can just come in and buy the kid.

I wouldn't call Cam Skattebo part of the problem. He left an FCS school after two seasons and joined Arizona State when Kenny Dillingham became the coach. Even though ASU went 3-9 that year Skattebo was adamant about staying for this season because he believed in what they were building. Now he's Nick Saban's "favorite player" (as he said on GameDay), he single-handedly made the 12-team playoff not suck for four epic quarters and overtime, and he's a senior with no more eligibility looking like a second-day NFL draft pick.

I pulled for Texas. Skatteboo strikes me as a douche.

He kind of reminds me of Jim Taylor who played fullback for the Green Bay Packers during the Lombardi years.

Jim Taylor (fullback) - Wikipedia

(September 20, 1935 – October 13, 2018) was an American professional football player who was a fullback in the National Football League (NFL) for ten seasons, with the Green Bay Packers from 1958 to 1966 and with the expansion New Orleans Saints in 1967. With the Packers, Taylor was invited to five straight Pro Bowls and won four NFL championships, as well as a victory in the first Super Bowl. He was recognized as the NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) after winning the rushing title in 1962, beating out Jim Brown. An aggressive player and fluent trash talker, Taylor developed several personal rivalries throughout his career, most notably with New York Giants linebacker Sam Huff. This confrontational attitude, combined with his tenacious running style, a penchant for contact, and ability to both withstand and deliver blows, earned him a reputation as one of the league's toughest players.

He was quite impressive.

Yeah, he came alive in the second half. But the most impressive run that I've seen (so far) was by Ashton Jeany of BS. He took a hand off and got 10 yards for a first down. Not to impressive sounding in print, but I watched him get hit by six Penn State players and he pushed two of them for the last two yards across the first down line. THAT was an impressive run.

The dude had 143 yards rushing and two touchdowns, 99 yards receiving and threw a 42-yard touchdown pass. Why are we talking about whether he's a good person? I don't care if he stole a Coke from a kid on the way to the locker room. Those numbers are insane.
