Lets take a look at the outgoing transfers that will impact this Bowl Game.

I counted 4 DL 3 being interior DL. 3 OL 2 OT, 1 IOL, 3 CB, 2 QB's (Not the starter), 1 RB, 1 LB, and K

What I am seeing is looking like Starting OT, RB, Kicker, CB, DL, WR, and LB. 

Other interesting note is the OC got another job, but I think Kinne is like Morris and he calls the plays but not totally sure.

Looks like they have been hit harder than us in terms of volume. Really we’re only down 3 guys and if Blair and Duncan are back, I’d say our o-line has upgraded from our last few games with Mercer. Also sucks to lose Morris but he was a shell of his pre Tulane injury self those last few games.

The DL losses intrigued me the most get some first downs and get some momentum tempo picks up, once them big boys are tired without many subs you are asking for a disaster.   Losing their RB was huge.  I think I agree with your assessment of the OL as well.  Mercer was really good for us but he's still a Freshman and I doubt he moves people better than Blair.

I think the offense we see will have more designed QB run plays and some fun stuff sprinkled in to keep the weight off Mestemaker and make his life as easy as we can. Calling at least one Wyatt Young pass this game. But yeah, hope we can lean on them in the run game.

@Glory to the Green I'll go through tomorrow am and try to pair it up so we have a better idea of who is staying to play on both squads and who won't be participating.   I honestly think our offense may have a chance to be more explosive without Morris at the helm.  He was gimped up because our throws downfield significantly dropped after the Tulane game when he took that big shot.  Tons of screens, quick game, etc.  I hope they allow Mestemaker to air it out so long as he's proven to earn the trust in that.  I did get a good report from a former UNT football player that his friends on the defense said the offense had been killing it in practice and Mestemaker was the least of our worries in the bowl game FWIW.

Going through the list this morning the following Transfer Portal entries for TX State are still playing.  I don't know their team well enough to know the other list who was a starter etc other than RB, and OT for sure.

Starters:

Terry Webb DT

Tavian Coleman NT

Backups: 

Donte Thompson CB

Langston Anderson WR

His only offer so far is for UTEP. Wonder if he'll reconsider and stay another year. Can never complain about QB depth.

I guess he's gonna' go workout instead or maybe rest up for the combine. 🙄

Of there starters out both DL played today.  They were missing a RB, and OT essentially

      FAU is this year's Memphis...NBA talent, but a lot of selfish play and suss coaching. they're still not gonna be any fun to play...wish we were playing them now and not end-of-the-month when possibly they start to figure things out

      just from watching them in Maui, there seemed to be more togetherness and playing for each other...plus clearly defined roles on the floor. there's maybe not NBA talent on this Memphis roster...but there seems to be a better plan than last year's team. PJ is the lead scorer, Tyrese Hunter (whose game I love) is the floor-general, Rogers is shoot-making 3rd option, Jourdain is their Dello, and then two big strong athletic posts and a handful of hustle dudes who can fill in 1-4 in spurts. add in last year's collapse and maybe knowing his job is determined by NCAA success this year, Penny seems to have them gelled.

      Game Day

      It's a shame we lost, but it was at least an interesting game. Wife was *very* excited about the win, and got herself a 2025 Bowel ChampPeen shirt. The SWT folks were very into the game. That school has spirit -- big band, big Rangerette-style drill team, good coordination between the ticketholders and the cheerleaders. They reminded me of the time I spent at SFA. They're excited about where they are, and hold no illusions about a P4 or national playoff. The UNT folks were almost exactly the opposite. It was nice to see the Band in full uniform. By chance we were sitting near the family of some of the second-string players. Say what you will about the Portal, but these folks were very happy to see the players actually get game time. The QB didn't look bad for someone who hasn't started since (I think?) the 9th grade. Travel into and out of the venue was easy. It was my first time at Ford, so I was a bit surprised that the stadium is outclassed by some high school places around here. I suspect SMU will have to expand if they stay in the ACC. Last note: a televised game takes FOREVER to sit through. Too many media timeouts. Couple that with the Ol' Miss-style "injured" defensive players over and over, and the first half alone this game was over 2 hours. Going to a bowl game ended up being an all-day event for us, given travel time.
