This is what we need to be building towards. Our close losses in OOC play with McNeese and Utah State probably sunk any small “at large” hope we had anyway since the entire AAC is down. Just get battle hardened and dialed in for Ft Worth.

Will Memphis run the table in conference play and go undefeated?  They have to play Wichita and UAB twice, those are probably their hardest remaining regular season games.    If they do that they they are probably looking at a 5 seed in the Tournament.

Massie has such an ugly shot. I'd rather B Lo be taking threes.

I am at the point I would rather have Mason getting his minutes.

Great game where I believe the better team lost.  My hot takes:

Haggerty shooting 11-14 from the floor including that desperation 3 won't happen again.

Newell's two missed FT's late, Walker's late missed layup on the fast break and Wright and Jossell's struggles kept us from winning.  I think Memphis, with their athleticism, is a team that Wright will struggle against, but Jossell not hitting some open three's that are uncharacteristic of him.

Lorient's missed dunk where they reversed, rightly so, the goal tending call hurt as well.  Have to finish at the rim.

Massie is just too out of control.  As mentioned above, I would rather see his minutes go to Mason or Cotton if he isn't going to improve.

Would love to see Walker stop passing up some open threes early in a possession.  He has the shot.

Memphis is very beatable.

Their fans are garbage.

I hope so because that’s the only way we could possibly be a two big league if they lose in the conference tournament.

plus let's not forget a Haggerty prayer from 30' going in. we're likely not into the foul game in the last minute or so without that bucket

This was so frustrating because the guys defended that possession so well.
Definitely the difference in the game.   It was a dagger that could've caused the guys to fold, but they didn't.

As you, and many others have pointed out, Wright & Jossell both going O-fer again is definitely not going to happen.   On the flipside, I doubt we'll see Moulaye's performance again either.
I thought Floyd played well.

oh totally...we may not have a true lead on this team, but we have balance and dude's step up for each other.

we've already had six different game top scorers (Wright, Jossell, Lorient, Walker, Floyd, Massie). we had five all of last season (Robert Allen only did it once, so basically 4).

Memphis will get a bid no matter what.  If anyone besides Memphis wins the auto-bid, it doesn't really matter if Memphis ran the table or not.

Okay, so we've talked about all these things that happened to allow Memphis to get the W.

If you're watching this game through Tiger goggles, what happened to allow North Texas to keep it close, and is there anything that Memphis can look forward to happening in Round 2 that will afford the Tigers a lot more breathing room?

Bringing this up, because I saw a thread on X where Tiger fans said this game was never in doubt or out of their control.  Trying to understand what they see.
