2008 UNT vs WKU

This popped up on my YouTube feed this morning. For those you that weren't around during the Dodge era, here's 0-8 UNT against 2-6 WKU. Turned out to be a pretty entertaining game. Vizza at QB, Fitzgerald at WR, Craig Robertson & Tobe Nwigwe at LBs.

Two things are immediately obvious when you start to watch this game.  
 

1) Vizza was good

2) Only the amnesia brought on by trauma made me forget just how bad Todd Dodge’s defenses were.  Like, “kinda makes you appreciate a Caponi defense” level bad

My thoughts as well about Vizza. I forgot he stayed 2years. I thought he left after getting shell shocked his freshman year.

Two seasons of getting crushed on the Fouts Field concrete and having facilities and support worse than what he had at his Alamo Heights HS near SA just killed his spirit. Kid literally left the sport after 2008.

I was following the game on the old ESPN game cast while sitting in the stands in Lubbock for that great game where #6 TTU won against #1 UT very late. 
 

It took a few moments to process what happened from the game cast but made for a great college football weekend.

“Kid literlly left the sport after 2008.” ?  Actually, he transferred to A & M as a QB, had to sit out a year then and never saw the field and was on the UTSA coaching staff for a time.  He was a coach there against North Texas

I was one of a few hundred UNT fans to attend this game. As bad as that defense was, we still had some size and talent back then.
