Probably FCS or D2, if you could not beat out a walk-on in an air raid system, guessing we were not going to see him in Bowl Game was clincher, add in Jimmerson the writing was on the wall

According to ON3 he already has FBS offers since entering the portal. Including 1 power 4 school. I assume since our philosophy now is to go to portal and get 5th and 6th year QB’s all the young QB’s will leave. We are in a win now mode or get fired. No more developing players.

How will Andrew feel when he learns that a kid hit the portal?

"We should disconnect from him. He simply ran away. We need to stop normalizing selfishness. It’s destroying college sports. I will never change my mind on this. Ever. I don’t care who it is or what team it happens to. It needs to stop. One transfer and no NIL. Needs to be fixed ASAP."

Writing was on the wall when you get beat out by the walk on QB that didn’t play QB in high school. Hate to see him not stay and develop.

I thought it odd he wasn't the backup during the season.

Why did we recruit him if that was the case?

Did UNT coaches not evaluate him correctly or did he regress after?

Fans rarely hear the players or coaches side of these situations either.

When we recruited him two years ago, the plan was to develop young high school players and recruit from Texas high school. But after we went 5-7 and 6-6, the next two seasons, the thinking has changed win now mentality so that’s why we are going out and getting so many older transfer guys. You can see the two years ago we brought in over 20 something high school recruits and I think in this last signing period This year we may have signed 10.

I assume we will see more young guys jumping in the portal soon with all of these transfers. Especially on the receiving side.

You think so?  We only brought in two receivers?  We’re losing DT, Ward, and Rempert.  EM likes to run 8 receivers.

Yeah, these were my questions too.  Coaches aren't going to hit 100% on all players so I'm not going to beat them up too much.  But it's pretty surprising that the QB whisperer missed out so badly. They must have recognized that he wasn't the guy and likely encouraged him to move on.

Maybe not. I’ve just seen receivers on the visitor list recently. I hope we can keep all of those young guys because I think they are very solid.

This is better  than what had happened  with stone Earle.

We say quarterback whisperer, but the last two quarterbacks that have started for us were not developed by Morris. They were at other programs or developed there and we just use them for a season. And that’s what’s gonna happen again this year with the guy from Miami been developed by others and then we will get the benefits of six years of college. Nothing wrong with this philosophy. That’s what we’re going to do from here on out with this coaching staff.

Don't waste time on HS qb's unless they can contribute quick. Jimmerson will have a package for him to use at qb, slot and maybe kick returns. he is to fast to not have on the field.

Ugh ugh. Look at stats and where they ended up. Crazy statement (being nice)

I agree. If you have time to develop QBs you can afford a young QB playing. Jimerson with his speed will be on the field somewhere. If not, he will be gone after spring ball. Young QB’s have to go to programs that are stable and can develop.

Absolutely ridiculous take. Our past 2 quarterbacks did not produce anything close to what they produced here before transferring in. In the case of Chandler Rogers, he also didn't do much once he left. It's only reasonable to credit some of their success to Eric Morris.

So much for Cash being the chosen one LMAO. Beat out by a walk-on who had no offers and didn’t even play in HS. Has to be one of the bigger flops in recent memory.

Or he knows this staff will be fired after next season and is getting a jump on a better place. Hopefully Drew and Cash get to play in bowl game. Then will get a good idea of what they offer.

"I'm shocked" said no one ever.

But yeah, being beat by a walk on shows that maybe he just wasn't ready. Puffinburger was just the final nail

Can we start with "Crash McCollum" yet, or too soon?

By all means let's not give any credit to Mestemaker.

Honestly,  he wasn't bad. He wasn't great. It was absolutely a big step down from Morris. He earned it as a backup, but I have zero idea what his competition even looked like
