He'll be gone even if he is the starter.  They all leave these days.

I'm not framing a jersey for any of them!

Only 2 of our 22 starters from our last game against Temple are in the portal. The high school guys who Morris have signed have pretty much all stayed, except for the guys who weren’t getting any playing time.

Out of the 2023 and 2024 high school signees signed by Morris, Tyler Mercer is the only one to start and hit the portal. The other 2023 and 2024 HS Signees who have played extensively, Braydon Nelson, Brian Nelson, Evan Jackson, Landon Sides, Miles Coleman, Wyatt Young, Jaedon Langley, Taylor Starling, Quinton Hammonds have all played extensively or started as underclassmen the last two seasons and all seem pretty committed to the program.

It seems your chances of keeping a starter is far higher if that guy is someone your HC signed out of high school. It’s a stronger relationship.

Either Jimmerson is the guy…or he’s gone.  I don’t see him sticking around to be the “special package” quarterback or being Podfenbarger’s relief.  Sorry, just the world of college football now.

I already wonder how long he's going to stay anyway.

Is he expected to challenge P-barger for the starting position?
If not, do we expect him to take the job in year 2 or would it be more likely that EM brings in another experienced QB.

Whatever we do, I don't want ANY consideration regarding lost eligibility to factor into whether he plays or not.

Edit: I posted before seeing this which is definitely good news.

Expecting a guy to come in and start at QB year 1 is an unreasonably high expectation. I know it's happened, even with us recently with Fine, but it's unreasonable to expect any true freshman QB to do that.

Question for those who know more about recruiting/HS football like @BillySee58 and @GMG24, what is the reason a guy like Jimerson would be recruited as an athlete vs Kyler Murray and Bryce Young being recruited as dual threat QBs. Those two are currently listed at 5'10" on their NFL rosters. If Jimerson is truly 5'9", does that 1 inch make that much of a difference?

Question #2, is D'Eriq King a reasonable comp for Jimerson? Is he faster? Trying to figure what kind of smaller QB he is.

How sad that due to the NIL and transfer portal, we cannot truly enjoy signing a young man who has just had an incredible season. Most assume that if he comes in and does well, he will be gone before he has even dressed out for his first practice. Sorry, but not sure how beneficial it is to recruit HS QBs anymore and spend the time developing them.

Yeah, that was pretty much my thoughts when I made my post about his chances of ever playing.  I'm not all that excited about paying for his transfer credits, nutrition program, and workout facility only to make him a better player at Okie State or wherever he ends up playing.

King was recruited as a slot receiver by everybody except for UH. Even then, to get King on the field as a true freshman (Greg Ward Jr was a 3 year starter at qb) and the beginning of his sophomore season (Before Kyle Allen and Kyle Postma underperformed) he was a slot receiver.

So similar to Jimerson's recruitment in that nobody really wanted to give either a scholarship at QB. Thanks for the insight.

After watching the highlights of the North Crowley win, my prediction is that Jimmerson will come to NT to get his QB skills fine-tuned. Then it will be off to play for Coach Prime.

Colorado just signed ESPN's #2 overall prospect in Julian Lewis at QB. If Lewis works out, how does it benefit either party for Jimerson to go sit on the bench behind a top QB prospect? They also signed one of Jimerson's teammates so clearly they aren't high on Jimerson as it is.
