It has been a long time since I saw a team this explosive. Between Jimmerson, the RB Warren and the WR Gibson, they can take it to the house on any play.

If nothing else, would like to see some wildcat stuff next year. Really felt like our run game would’ve benefitted from some more QB runs this season and Morris had the wheels but not the durability to do it. Jimmerson could add that wrinkle while gaining experience and keeping extra hits off of Poffenbarger.

Either Jimmerson is the guy…or he’s gone.  I don’t see him sticking around to be the “special package” quarterback or being Podfenbarger’s relief.  Sorry, just the world of college football now.

How similar do you see his game to White's formerly out of Desoto that we almost landed??

Chris Jimmerson needs to add some good weight.  He would benefit from one year of development.

He'll be gone even if he is the starter.  They all leave these days.

I'm not framing a jersey for any of them!

  • Similarities
    Very similar:

Products of winning programs. DeSoto should have won at least one State Championship under White and Jimerson did.
Both are/were pass first quarterbacks though dual threats to take it to the house from the pocket or roll outs.
Both are/were high IQ quarterbacks that rarely make mistakes.
Huge passing/rushing yardage throughout their career.
Both are/were undersized by P4 standards
Both were surrounded by exceptional P4 talent with explosive offenses
    Both ran/run 4.4 40's.
Neither received serious offers to play QB

  • Differences
    Jimerson is about 5-11, 165 to White's 5-7, 155.
White was the starter for 2 years and Jimerson since his freshman year.
Jimerson may be better passing out of the pocket.
Both are/were equally accurate passers, White may have been a tad better.
White committed to UNT as his lone offer before committing to TCU. Jimerson committed to TCU first before signing with UNT.

Though White decommitted from UNT, I still feel he was the better overall HS quarterback; with less weapons.  RB Dontre Wilson was a national recruit that committed to Oregon but signed with Ohio St.

    Just some thoughts

Similar to how I feel.  Thanks!

Considering we were the only school offering him at QB when he decommitted from TCU who recruited him as a receiver, allowing him to play as a true freshman as a likely progression towards being the starter as a sophomore is as good a situation as any true freshman could walk into. If the understanding was that he was going to be the starter year one, we wouldn’t have gone after Poffenbarger the way we did.

Yeah Cooley spelled it out pretty well but definitely feels like the closest comps to each other as HS QBs. Honestly I felt like in both cases they were better passers than runners as HS QBs, with the only limiting factor really being their size.

I think Jimerson is tall enough that if he has what it takes to be a good college QB, his height alone won’t be enough to negate that. White’s height unfortunately was most likely enough to negate his QB abilities at the college level.

i don't want to ask this, but

If he is as good as advertised, and I guess he is, why is he coming here right out of high school ?

Short. Other schools were recruiting him as a receiver, including TCU where he was committed. We decided to give him a shot as a QB and that’s what he wanted. We’ll see if it pays off.

He is listed as a 5'10" QB but I believe he is closer to 5'9"

5'8" 165 was what he was this summer at camp.
