It's been said by others on the board. They use a Jack linebacker. I'm looking at size and how that affects some of those down and 1 situations we've struggled with. Is what Cassity runs enough to solve those issues? Is 3 true DL and Jack linebacker enough? Are we equating that to a true 4-man front?

Probably a bit smaller than a true DE, but much more versatile.  If teams are living in 3rd and short 2 or less.  Odds are they are kicking your butt and 3rd down is the LEAST of your worries.  

 

I am attaching an antiquated number chart but I would imagine with enough digging you could find one for closer years than 2021.

Understood on the Jack vs true DE. Not arguing against either, just want it to work. 

Sightly bored so I was reading threads from 2019-2020. Others were pretty much having the same conversation. Some were calling for a 3 DL + Jack with others wanted a true 4 DL front. Some things haven't changed.
