Saw this and wanted to post it for others to see. It's a reminder to myself and hopefully others that stars and rankings aren't everything. Important to remember for our HS recruits and transfer recruits, at least as it pertains to skill position players.

It will be a downright tragedy if it's not Jeanty.   He's the reason his team is even in the Playoff, let alone with a 1st Rd bye.
IIRC, NT recruited him, and had a visit too, but he went with Boise St.

I agree.  Travis Hunter is a special athlete, but is he one of the top WR’s or CB’s in college football?  That’s an honest question because I haven’t seen him play much at all.  I feel like he’s maybe a very good CB and an above average WR, but not one of the best in the country at either…that a good assessment?

I've watched him quite a bit. And the answer is "yes" to both questions.

Lock down CB, I would say he can be an electric returner and he had 1150 receiving yards and 14 TDs. Every play the D was keyed on him and he still made plays. He was pretty much un-guardable all season....

He was one of just two receivers who had at least 90 catches, 1,000 yards and 10 TDs this season.

Thanks. I also wasn’t considering his contributions as a kick/punt returner.  It seems he’s definitely a better WR than I realized.

Actually he didn't do a lot on the return side (shocked by that actually, I would expect him to be a punt returner in the NFL)

The crazy thing is he's done it quietly on the offensive side...

He's not big, but they just can't guard him. I wouldn't be surprised if he's the #1 overall pick.

I'm no Colorado fan but he was stop down to watch. He just takes over games....

Hunter should be the biggest lock of the last 15-20 years.  What he's done this year is incredible.  I wish I could legit root for Jeanty, but it would be criminal if Hunter doesn't win.

I'm going to disagree on Hunter being a lock. He's incredible but looking at the offensive side specifically, Colorado was loaded at the receiver position. You couldn't double team any one guy without another punishing you. Wester had nearly 900 yards and 10 TDs on 70 receptions. Sheppard is another who had 600 years and 6 TDs. Teams were putting 10 in the box to stop Jeanty.

That's silly.  I'm not saying Hunter wouldn't be a legit pick, but so would Jeanty.  What will give Hunter the edge over Jeanty is that he plays for an AP2* team.

* Almost Power conference

Most years Jeanty would be a great winner. No one else would be legit in a year with a true 2 way player like Hunter though.  I don't care who he plays for. Hell I thought Hunter should have had way more consideration last year, but given he missed like 3-4 games with injury (not to mention Colorado wasn't any good) it's not surprising he didn't.
