Johnny Quinn bleeds green and talks about UNT all the time in his career. There's pride there. Those days are gone....

I think you could theoretically still find that guy but the situation has to be absolutely perfect. The player would have to have a Mason Fine/Seth Littrell relationship and probably grew up a Mean Green fan. But even then, a huge maybe.

Money talks.   Loyalty often takes a backseat when you're talking about the kinds of money QBs make now in the new NIL landscape.    The Mason Fine days are over unless NT stumbles upon a T Boone or Uncle Phil.  It is what it is.

Yeah I think you may be right but it is kindof a depressing thing to me.

Well yeah. That’s why I said it would have to be the perfect conditions and even then it’s a massive maybe.

The reality is you’re right. But can never rule out an exception.

I feel like Rod Brown could have easily gone somewhere else for his senior season.    I'm glad he didn't, as I've really enjoyed watching him play in Green.

So yeah, exceptions are definitely there... but I'm not so sure about QB exceptions, those would be more like Unicorns.   I will say though, if Jimerson comes in and balls out, his height may give P5 schools pause, and NT may be able to back up a mini Brinks truck to keep him from going to a richer G5 school.  🤞

Get a year under Morris.

1) Toss for 30-ish TDs.
2) Get an absurd NIL offer.
3) win at life?

It'd be nice if #3 was actually winning on the field against decent teams...but here we are

Welcome transfers to the UNT Temp Agency.....

Heisman finalists: Hunter on his second school, Gabriel on his third school, Ward on his third school. Ironically, Jeanty is the exception and only one who's spent his entire career at a G5.

We're not alone in this. It's just today's world.

I don't think they're completely gone. We'll still get some football and basketball stars who love the place enough to commit to it for multiple seasons. They'll just be exceedingly rare and as fans we need to appreciate them.

When Chandler Rogers and the other four-school portal chasers look back on their college careers in the future, will the diehard fans at their schools look back on them? Part of the appeal of playing is the money, no doubt, but another part is the glory of the game. If Rogers had stayed he could've left UNT as the fifth- or fourth-place QB in total passing yards in only two seasons.

I really think it depends on if QB can get a significant raise here staying with a Mean Green roster that looks like it could have a “Boise State” like season.  Chances are slim you going to keep from going to the biggest brands in P4 that is virtually promising a starting role without a 5-star QB already on the roster.   But I believe you can keep them from going to mid-tier and bottom-tier P4 programs if we retain the coaches he likes, along with a raise, and roster.  SMU spends big money but even if they spent 35% less than they currently do their starting QB isn’t transferring to a place like Vandy, Michigan State, Kentucky or Purdue just to lead rosters that have significant disadvantages for most of their conference games.
