So weird.

Wonder if there's any interest between the MWC and any of the powerhouse FCS teams in the Dakotas/MT/ID. I know there's a big fee to jump but I figure at least one of those schools would have the ambition. And any of them would be a bigger get than UC Davis.

Hopefully Northern Illinois doesn't take the bait and wreck the MAC.

SAC St. should eventually get an invite from either the MWC or PAC 7. The Montana and Dakota schools seem happy in 1AA and the cost to move up is high when you add the NCAA $5 million upgrade fee, $2 million entry fee[ MWC] , 20 football scholarships, and stadium expansions to accommodate at least 25,000 fans. NDSU has a covered stadium that seats about 20,000 ( I didn't check the other 5 Dakota schools) so they might get a pass.

MWC is circling the drain.

As long as the WAC exists, they will always have another conference that they can look down on.

Don't disagree about all the costs not being worth it, but I think that capacity requirement went down the drain when CUSA let SHSU and Kennesaw in.

The Mountain West will include Grand Canyon, Air Force, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico, San Jose State, UNLV, UTEP, and Wyoming starting in 2026. GCU and UC Davis will be the only non-football institutions in the conference. UC Davis will compete in 16 conference-sponsored sports, which includes men's and women's basketball, but it's football program will remain at the FCS level.

This is a really crappy conference and also remember they are paying Air Force and UNLV a crap ton for staying in it so everyone else is getting a smaller share of revenue pot.

I just think that the MWC and PAC 12 would require a stadium of at least 25,000 or the ability to expand to that number to consider a 1AA program for membership. SAC State is building one, Montana has a 25,000 seat stadium, Montana St. 21,000, S. Dakota St. 19,000, and N. Dakota St. 19,000. S. Dakota and N. Dakota both have small domes with seating between 10,000 and12,000. This surprised me but I double checked it.

UC Davis has a 10,000 plus stadium so I assume they are committed to expand before their football team gains MWC membership.

Yes, SHSU plays in a high school stadium.
