That's what I have been told by those close to the situation.

Regardless, I'm not sure I see Riley as a "darling of the program."  At least on this board, I see a lot of mixed feelings about him.  When I think of "darlings of the program," I think of players like Mason Fine, Brandon Kennedy, Johnny Quinn, Lance Dunbar, Patrick Cobbs.  I can't think of a player who transferred out of North Texas who would be held by fans in comparable esteem.

See Mason Fine’s last two years w/o his offensive coordinator and he was poor to mediocre

Or...Fine was the same, but the team, OL, and new OC/playcaller were worse.

Like ALL THE DENTON ATHLETES THAT SIGN ELSEWHERE W/O considering HOME@UNT PLAYERS ENTERING TRANSFER PORTAL ARE TRAITORS

Committing to UNT, playing, then leaving for another program is different than never was at UNT.

Good for him.   He’ll do great in that offense!

I agree, he will absolutely do great things. I was sad to see him go!

This makes zero sense.
It has to mean he was encouraged to leave, or told he wouldn’t be getting as much PT, right?
…And Cobbs was on board with that?

Sac State was the source of that Schefter/Gotleib twitter bit...apparently they have $50M in NIL and were courting Mike Vick as HC...trying to get into the revamped Pac-whatever

If you watched him in his limited time early this year you would realize he was a shell of his former self. He was a strong runner and never really quick and he appeared to have lost a step or two. I wish him well because he want going to sniff the field next year here.
