College football revenue is only behind professional football.

Revenue means nothing if it can't cover expenses. Probably 80% of D1 football teams lose money.  Note, revenue in most stats includes mandatory student fees.  Revenue defined as ticket sales, guarantees, concessions, advertising, etc. and not student or school funds rarely covers expenses.
