Another ticked-off comment surely not to be taken well .....

C Morris has no loyalty to UNT - what makes anyone believe he would not be willing to share our playbook with his dad?

Or we can rebrand our name and change it to the "temps"..  That could be put the helmets.   Maybe kill the football program and focus on Basketball.  Starting to wonder if it all worth it anymore.  If stop following MG football I am not jump on another teams bandwagon.  Maybe that is what it will take if fans stop watching.

You ever see those "Hard Knocks" or other NFL training camp shows....where they will haze rookies by making them stand in front of our everybody and sing their school song?

Now guys.....would say, "Which one? I went to 4 different places."

No shit. On a serious note, I would like someone to explain how players maintain eligibility when they go to four or five schools in a four-six year period. I thought, at one time, the idea of going to college was to get an education. How is the system shut up that a kid is allowed to be put in a place where he will never have enough credits to graduate from a school unless that school is giving special rules for the athletes that they don't provide to other students?

Yep.  All of these kids think they are going to the NFL when around 2% are drafted each year and probably half of them cut.  It's just stupid at this point.

The AD's want us to contribute to these collectives to show the "student"/athletes we are committed to them, yet most of them have zero loyalty to our school outside of the money they collect.

You know, I take it with a grain of salt when an AD talks about student-athletes. I literally want to lose my lunch when the school president still uses the same verbiage. I will add one more thing: in this new age of NIL, I do not believe any school that participates in NIL should be allowed to charge student fees for athletics unless it's on an opt-in basis.

Many of them know they AREN’T going to the NFL and this is the best time to capitalize on their abilities monetarily.

Somewhat serious not-serious question, but in this age of nothing seems to matter anymore, does anything stop a school from selling naming rights to their team nickname / mascot? Like, could UNT be the Mean Green Chevrolets with a Green Silverado as the mascot?

I agree they have the right to make that choice, just as fans have the right not to support NILs for people who don't care about their schools.

They are selling naming rights to Head Coach signing announcements now.   Why not?

I suspect one reason is many students (especially the smarter one) are entering with credits via testing.  I've known plenty of kids that start with 15-20 hrs.

The other is players going to school every summer during college.  That gets them credits and access to the workout facilities and possibly the nutrition programs.

Again. They want to be pros, fine make NCAA football a semi pro league. Sign a contract for 4 years. No more scholarships and free dorms, education, etc. Set a salary cap. If  player wants to transfer, they have to be traded to a school.  Tax their earnings.

I'd suspect that players across the board would realize how well they had it.

But don't most universities require that you take a certain number of hours at that school? Not sure how you can graduate when you never stay at the school more than a year

Basketball has a higher percentage of NIL defectors than football.   Did you not see we had to add like 11 players this offseason.

Killing football is not rational...unless you want to be UTA and forgotten.   Football provides the majority of revenue for basketball.

Every school is losing players.  There are more players wanting FBS spots than spots exist.  It will eventually change to binding contracts, not this NIL under-the-table garbage.

NIL is awful and will kill college sports as we know it.

However, I think a lot of you are way off base blaming the players who transfer for NIL benefits.

They would be extremely stupid if they did optimize their financial situation when the opportunity is available.  Most will never have another chance to make as much money as they can get from NIL.

Oh I agree, most would and I would seek the money.   Not a lot of fun following teams that can never be really good anymore.   I think the solution might be to go to an option type offense.  The rich schools are looking for passers.  Rice might have the right idea.

My personal feelings is I may becoming to the end of my fandom for college football. Have not watch an NFL game in years and I never really missed it.  I do enjoy going to the home games and talking to friends around me but it comes with $500 cover charge.

I wonder how the portal has any negative effect on graduation rates?  I sure it has  done some damage but that not what college sports is about any longer.   How long before the big boys dump the graduation rate as a factor.
