I mean he’s good and I wanted him back obviously, but let’s not act like he didn’t contribute mightily to our 5 game losing streak. The offense was not effective in the 2nd half of the year - much of that as a result of his inconsistent play behind a suspect OL.

Sucks cause the Bowl  game is down the tubes now.

Pure speculation, but might he and others on offense have been distracted by negotiations with their new employers?

Guess one of our experienced backup QBs will start the bowl game…oh wait…

They have had a year of development under the tutelage of our QB whisperer, so we should be fine, right?

that our 2nd string is a walk on freshman is an indictment of EM's recruiting at QB outside of CM, who faltered quite a bit during the 5 game losing streak and was not sharp against Temple either

I've been expecting to find out that he got his shoulder hurt and was playing with injury during the losing streak. He wasn't the same quarterback after mid-season.

Funding NIL to a competitive level isn't about ordinary fans. It's about convincing rich alumni to fork over the bucks.

I don't think we lack fans who care. We lack loaded fans who care.

Sure, finding the billionaire who wants to make the Mean Green his passion project would be the ideal scenario.  But, accruing lots of small donations from regular people is also an important piece of the puzzle--or at least is a stopgap until our AD can convince the millionaires and billionaires of DFW to get involved.

We do, 250,000 alumni each give 5-10 bucks

5 = 1.25 Mil

10 = 2.5 Mil

I find it hard to believe that each of our alumni can't give 10 bucks.  That is a 1 time donation as well.

How about each gives $100 per year.  We would be golden

I believe he thought Earl would be the backup after he gave him the opportunity to come back after he quit and then asked to come back. But I agree he should have found someone with college experience over the summer.

They brought Grant Tisdale in but it doesn't seem he was the answer or he would have gone in over the walk on freshman.

OK, but UTSA was able to keep their star QB for his final season by getting together enough NIL money to make it worth his while to stay.  This isn't directed at you, but overall the sentiment among our fanbase seems to be that we don't like the idea of NIL, so we're not going to participate.  Then we're shocked when we can't compete with the programs whose fans care a whole lot more.  You get what you pay for, I suppose...

JD confirmed we are bottom 3 in the AAC for NIL. We simply don't have the $$ to keep players here.

Across most of the G5, I think alumni aren't going to fork over small donations in huge number until they get fired up about what the school is putting on the field.

Even the fat cats in the P4/3/2 are getting donor fatigue. "My biggest pet peeve, and I've told them: 'Y'all can't call me every year asking for millions of dollars. That's not gonna happen. I love my school but I don't love them that much." -- Charles Barkley, Auburn alumni

We offered 500k and he still walked. Screw him, let him go. He came here to play for Coach Morris and rejuvenate his career, and that's exactly what happened. Zero loyalty. If I were the coaching staff I would focus the NIL money we do have on other positions and a) develop young QBs and b) get mid-tier QBs to transfer in here knowing that if they have a good season they will leave. Coach Morris has proved that he can develop QBs, and we as fans of the program have proved collectively we won't give the money to NIL needed to keep these guys, so it is what it is.

DONATE TO OUR NIL. AS LITTLE AS $500 ADDS UP. JUST THINK, 20 GUYS ON HERE GIVING $500 is $10k, WHICH IS THE GOING RATE FOR A GOOD PLAYER IN THE PORTAL/CURRENTLY ON THE ROSTER THAT IS/WILL START FOR US DAY 1 (NON-QB). TO DONATE, CLICK HERE: https://www.thelinku.com/donate/university-of-north-texas

Probably still would not make us competitive.

It would take us up in AAC, but no where near whats needed for the bigger schools for sure.   This is all going to slow down/change when revenue sharing begins from what I am understanding.  It will change from Pay to play, to an actual NIL where players will be required to do things off Name Image Likeness not just be a 3,000 yard passer.

This is the nature of the beast, sadly. Not surprised nor angry. It’ll just be a year-to-year thing for G5 football.

If CM gets more money to play somewhere else, I can’t fault him. Besides, this OL wasn’t good and he’d be running a lot trying to dodge DLmen. Hard to pass up $$$ while possibly moving on to a better team.
