We were all fretting about New Mexico or Florida, but honestly for a team that lost 5 straight and hung on to beat a bad Temple team to get bowl eligibility, we did amazing with our bowl destination

1. Date- a Friday after NYD, 3 PM, many folks havent officially started their working year yet, nothing else on

2. Location - Dallas, a smaller stadium (full stadium looks better on TV), most of our alumni are here , also accessible by public transit

3. Opponent- Texas State- who filled the stadium last year, and who travels well and is an in state foe

I dont know who we bribed to make this happen, but its way better than having to go to the myrtle beach bowl... though I feel bad for our players they dont get to travel

You are a glass half-filled guy. I like your optimism.

To have any optimism requires a 12-pack empty guy.

I would also like to make the argument that this bowl game fulfills the 'Necessary Roughness' trifecta:

1.) North Texas - home of the fictional Texas State school (all filmed in Denton)

2.) Texas State - the current namesake of the fictional team, but also, the only school that actually appears in the film

3.) Being played on the campus of SMU, the only school to suffer the 'death penalty' which is the premise the movie is about

Can we rename this the Necessary Roughness Bowl?

That’s deep…..but I like it.

FYI:  Not sure I ever posted this or not, but Colorado was also in the script plans, but something happened during filming one day and their team got scrapped.

When I wasn’t in the Dillo suit doing my scenes I was working in the costume department for head costumer Dan Moore and his main asstant Barry Kellog, and as the liaison between production and our athletic department.  CU sent two trunks full of game-worn uniforms and both were accompanied by an athletic department employee.  Nice guy and very helpful. The day he arrived with the trunks(huge lockers on wheels with hinges and keyed locks) we immediately opened them up and sorted them out by positions, and I saw Eric Bienemy’s jersey and gave it to him and told him to hide it, we won’t use it because it would get stolen for sure, so he did.  Then a week later before we shot the scenes with those uni’s he was gone?  Someone said they had heard he got told to pack up and come home.  We never knew why?

Believe it or not,  I wanted to say this, but didn't have time to post.

Let me add that if we could get any of Scott Bakula, Kathy Ireland, and Sinbad to come and be part of the coin toss...

Be The Team. Seize the opportunity.

Be the Team that breaks the bowl drought.
Be the Team that wins against the odds.
Be the Team that rises up to shout “Enough.”
Be the Team to finally win in Ford.

Be the Team that gets fans cheering “AAC” in the 4th quarter.
Be the Team that generates hope for the rest 2025.
Be the Team that shows UTSA how it’s done.
Be the Team that lifts a trophy within the first 3 days of 2025.

I like your thinking.  They teach us the serenity prayer at church and it befits this situation so well.  In so many ways UNT is like Job right now.
