I feel like it is a bit beneath us to play them even though I do respect what they have accomplished.  Does anyone know if we are going to be the home team?  I would think we would be since the game is in Dallas.

Honest question because I’ve seen this asked here and regarding high school playoff games.  What difference does it make who the home team is in a football game?  Assuming it’s just about better/more seating for the fans?

We are unfortunately what we are. We expect better, but most obviously are fine with playing teams in conferences we were in years and years ago. What does this say about where we have gone since SBC? If we end up losing this, how does that look even? At that point, the only thing that has changed in this team is the badge on their jersey.

Expect more or you get the same results.

This would be a great rivalry to renew ... short trip for both teams every time we would play.

We have a home and home with them in 2026 (away) and 2030 (home).

Good question. I would like to see us be the visitor just because that way we wear the lighter colored jerseys and we would not end up wearing black.

They finished at 7-5

They not only beat nUTSAck, they routed them 49-10.

They have been FBS as long as nUTSAck has been.

They lost to the eventual Big12 Champions, Airizona State by 3.

Their 5 losses were by an average of 5.4 points per game.

They have the 5th best total offense right behind us,…BUT…has the 47th best overall defense.  (Uh oh!!!!).

So I’ll ask the silly question: What exactly makes you “feel” they are somehow below us?

Rick

Looks like we hired the IWU coach.

On the bright side, their OC is gone to Texas Tech so who knows what this'll look like.

Hell, after nearly three weeks of open portal who knows what we’ll look like?

How is playing them beneath this program?

From an historical perspective, I understand his sentiments. We were clearly the better program for a number of years.  They have continued to improve on the field and we have not. They're not a better program today; although their current day success. Rightfully or not, this is the same feeling SMU has had toward us, forever.

I've always felt, we are the un-luckiest program in the country in terms of elevating the program. We see signs on the field then regress. Props to Southwest Texas State. I can't get excited either thinking back to those Southland Conference days together at Fouts Field.

I guess the call on the coin flip.

Otherwise, one sideline will be in the sun.  Depending on the weather, that might be a little better, i.e. on a sunny but cold day, it would be a bit warmer for the first part of the game.

It's really hard to dig out of the hole that our administration put us for decades, then followed by terrible hirings we made once we finally got semi-serious about FB.

But yes, we do seem to be able to find the path to failure every time we start heading in the right direction.

This team is in no way beneath us. The Sun Belt has come a very long way since we left it.

As far has home/away is concerned, it’s a neutral site. It doesn’t really matter. However, for tv purposes, I’d bet Texas State sits on the visitor side. It’ll look better on tv. They brought enough people to this game last year to drink them out of all their beer. I’m sure the stadium will be better prepared this year, but it’ll look more full to have all those fans on tv.

Dude. Are you freaking serious right now?! I'm not even stirring the pot this time, what would even possess you to say this?

It's bad enough that you're unironically a fan of a guy who constantly bragged about a National Championship ring he got while Urban Meyer, Dan Mullen and Charlie Strong did all of the actual work.
