Teams are only allowed 20 hours/week, and 4 hours/day for football activities (like the regular season), between the end of the season and their bowl. This includes film study and walkthroughs.

There is no "15 practice rule", that is just a phrase some people use. Miami is definitely using their full 20, but may not be calling them "practice".

Edit: The daily and weekly hour limitations DO NOT apply to the following time periods:

  • During preseason practice prior to the first day of classes or the first scheduled contest, whichever is earlier.

  • During an institution's term-time official vacation period (e.g., Thanksgiving, spring break), as listed in the institution's official calendar, and during the academic year between terms when classes are not in session.

Glad about the extra practice but I hope we don't ignore recruiting either.

Thanks. I thought I remembered some limit on post-season practices no matter when the bowl game was played.

Obviously with a playoff system now in place, that certainly wouldn't make sense.

Excited to get back to the cotton bowl again!

It's not played at the Cotton Bowl any longer. It's played at THE Gerald J. Ford stadium in all it's glory.

I'll say it again--UNT and Texas State should play regularly.

We play in San Marcos 2026. Not sure if it’s a home & home?

Will our new DC be coaching? He should be very familiar with Tx State since SHSU played them earlier this season.

Don't think so, but I am sure he is in on gameplanning/scheming.

Morris vs Kinne, it will show who made the better choice on a coach. I know they hired him a few days before SL was fired, but I remember Kinne's name coming up a lot when people talked about letting SL go.

Seems like the early portal opening is going to massively impact bowl games from now on.  If we’re playing with our full squads, I’d expect TxSt to beat us badly.  Similar or worse than what they did to utsa.  By the time the game happens, though, how many players on both sides will have transferred out?

A blowout loss to this squad would not be good for UNT and really not good for EM.

Bobcats opened as a 7.5 point favorite.

I hope he is calm in game action.  He tries to go too fast,  to the point of poor throws and bad decisions.

I hope is not even on the sideline since he is running away again to the transfer portal

They need to dump the lesser bowls, with NIL and players leaving before the bowl game it doesn't make a lot of sense.  It is the second team playing in the bowls now.

I am not buying a ticket to go to the game.  Not much of point anymore

For a second I wondered how the athletic department might try to spin these Portal defections, and try to salvage ticket sales to the bowl. But there isn't anything they can do now to lure the disgruntle fans to this "bowl".

Since we can't retain our better players, every year will be a rebuilding year going forward. I guess the old saying "There's always next year" will be our new battle cry.

Time to incorporate it into the school song.  Add some words about NIL and being Transfer U as well.

I'm sure some will attack me for this but, I think if you are a UNT fan and can make it you should go. I want to be there to support the kids that ARE staying and want to play for the Mean Green. I always think we have a chance to win, but this year, I just feel like these players deserve to have some fans in green at the game regardless of the outcome. GMG!

This is why until we can retain players consistently like some of our conference mates, we should be targeting portal QBs with only a year of eligibility remaining so we don't get f*cked for the bowl game.

I agree with this.  I much prefer establishing a tradition of the opening game of the season be against them(first verses FBS level team if we open against FCS).

I am underwhelmed, but I guess that is the best we could do with our record.

Why be concerned with what a deluded version of an underwhelming 6-6 Mean Green team does against a watered down version of any 7-5 or 6-6 G5 team?

And we should call Sammy and SFA and see if we can get the band back together. 🤪

No, we need to pick one.  Establish a scheduling tradition with them and ignore the others.
