100% agree. North Texas has managed to screw up the Mean Green marketing like no other school could probably do. But by all means we are proof that changing uniform combinations weekly will make you play better. And yes I know the next comment will be but the players like changing it up. In this day and time when half a roster may hit the portal every year please show me one player who has ever said I chose to go to a school or I am staying at this school because I like the uniforms we wear.

This again??!

Until you can tell me that going to a predictable, consistent, uniform combination leads to WINNING…I just don’t care.

Oregon must surely be distraught this morning after securing the overall #1 seed in the CFP while wearing green helmets and black jerseys last night.

We whine about uniforms because we don’t have WINNING to worry about.

Awesome Will Ferrell GIF

I don’t equate uniforms to winning.  Just to identity.  I actually like some of the uniforms, but would prefer to have a constant identity.

I make no apologies when I say these helmets look like trash. The offset placement of our logo is a terrible design choice because it leaves way too much negative space at the front of the helmet.

Don't use Oregon as the example of why it's OK for schools to change their look more than Lady Gaga.

Oregon is sui generis. They have the brains and riches of the biggest sports brand in the world backing what they do.

We, uh, don't.

I'd favor any uniform look for us as long as we used it all but one or two times a year. We could even go back to the helmet from my era where the eagle has been broken into pieces by a T sexing an N from behind.

We need more of this badass (possibly tweaked a little, e.g. change NT to the interlocked NT)

And I still like this helmet idea, especially in green.

Whatever the design is—hopefully a good one—we need to commit. North Texas may be one of the larger universities in the state, but it struggles with brand recognition beyond its borders. The solution? Find a design that works, truly works, and stick with it. Win or lose, be proud of the brand. Own it, and let it speak for itself.

I really like this and wish we’d use it all the time, but the size definitely needs to adjusted to make it fit on the helmet better.

SOW hasn’t aged very well and looks pretty bad in a 2d flat format. I wish we’d stop trying a ton of things, but that itself is almost our identity.

Add the other 8 or 9 logos we've had, along with 13 other shades of green, and a few more fonts and I think this would start to capture our "identity".

It is just plain stupid to radically change your uniforms every week when you have as close to ZERO as possible athletic brand recognition with as much history as we have.    We do a horrible job marketing that history and our historical uniforms.  What is worse at lot of the uniforms are just plain ugly and the ones everyone seems to love (like the icy whites) are rarely repeated.  So whenever we do have a signature win it likely that the next time we are on TV to reinforce that positive perception we are in uniforms so different that people may not recognize us.  And can we stop with the inserting black as much as possible in all the uniforms and helmets?   I think it is cool to wear black for home night games or home games played within 48 hours before Halloween.

The Flying worm just fits best on the helmet and looks the best...

BK Jackson - Football - University of North Texas Athletics

North Texas - HELMET HISTORY

Enoch Jackson - Football - University of North Texas Athletics

The SOW does not fit well on the helmet with the chin strap blocking the eagle head...

Yes, I was going to point this out was well.
The angle of FW allows it to be positioned more forward/centered on the helmet whereas SOW is forced toward the back, leaving the empty space.

If you're gonna put "Mean Green" on the helmets/basketball unis......make the letters look bold, or "mean" if you will. Not this cursive script crapola, that you can't even read.

Make the SOW a little smaller.  It doesn't have to be that big.
