We’ll see what the committee does

they kept the undefeated ACC champ out last year.

I know there are 12 spots now, but I’m Not sure they would let a 2 loss team with the 75th toughest schedule and 0-2 against ranked teams in this year

I dislike SMU as much as the average UNT fan, but if they get left out, they’re getting screwed.  Nice reward for making the conference championship…getting left out of the playoff while Alabama sits at home and gets in.

SMU’s playoff resume:

- Zero wins against teams currently in the Top 25

- Opponents’ combined record of 75-68

They are currently ranked 8th.  How can you drop them 5 spots for losing the conference championship on a last second field goal?  Oh, I know.  Because there’s an SEC team needing the spot.

No if they get in with their resume vs Bama and their resume. Bama is getting screwed.

Their strength of schedule. It’s not even close

That was true last week, but they were ranked ahead of Bama and playing Clemson helped their strength of schedule.

If any team is punished for losing the conference championship on a last second field goal while another team is rewarded for not playing, the system is more screwed up than ever.

But it’s not about Bama. I might put Tennessee in over Bama and for sure SMU

It’s about Bama because Bama is the team that’s going to get in at SMU’s expense.

Would you look at it the same if it we’re UNT instead of SMU?

I don’t know why bama would get in over Tennessee. Tennessee’s resume is better. And they have 2 losses. Like SMU. SMU made the conf championship yeah. But in a much easier conference with a much easier path. And Tennessee beat Bama.

We'll see what the committee does.  I am sure the SEC mafia will be putting a lot of pressure on them.

One thing we do know is that the ACC champ will not be one of the 4 teams to get a 1st-round bye in the playoff.

Tennessee and Bama are both getting in.  Tennessee is ranked 7th.
