If so, they're likely to have a very difficult time getting a job anywhere moving forward, especially Coach Wilson.
If the coaches were told they would have $# to spend, and that funding was pulled for whatever reason... That's on Tulsa's boosters, and good luck fielding a decent team ever again.

Coach Wilson publicly said he didn’t use NIL for recruiting which is technically correct. He did not use NIL dollars to recruit HS players, however he absolutely promised NIL money to incoming transfers and also to keep current players from transferring out.

I know this because my friend's son plays for Tulsa and he was told by his son multiple times throughout the seasons that coach says the NIL dollars are coming but they're delayed.

Not a good look for Coach Wilson. The players and parents have every right to be pissed. It's false promising.

Lmao AI doesn’t yet realize the NCAA is a paper tiger. They may have a rule in place but they’re not regulating or policing NIL deals. NCAA is too worried about lawsuits and the potential total collapse of their amateur-athlete business model.

Yup! The NCAA says it gets dozens of calls from players not getting what they were promised. There’s a reason the State of Georgia passed something related to sovereignty that prevents students from seeing any of their universities!

Not defending the NCAA....but how would that call go?

It's past time to end this farce called NIL.

Instead there needs to be signed, negotiated labor contracts between schools and players.  Similar to the NFL.  You can't break your contract and play somewhere else (for any reason), unless a negotiated release or traded for compensation from the receiving school.

That means players unionizing and collective bargaining agreements.

It also means employment status for athletes and all the requirements and benefits the comes with that which is exactly what the universities don't want.

It's coming anyway.  Players at some schools already have court approval to unionize.   Plus players are already under school medical insurance and care for game injuries and scholarships cover room and board.  The only thing left is compensation continues if game injured.

All the above is true.  If a “real business person” were to make a deal with a person that might be a supporter of a particular university, he/she would get it in writing and, there would be recourse if either party didn’t follow through.  These aren’t real business people.  They’re like catfish.  Attracted to the first shiny object they find.  When the shiny object is jerked away, they don’t know what to do.  They’re kids.  The same way they “commit” to a school and then “de-commit” when a shiny object catches their eye.

I love how we're continuing the go mean green trend of shitting on 18-22 year olds and pretending like we were so much smarter than them at that age. Yeah, kids wanna get paid fairly for their work and it's *their* fault the system is setup to dupe them. Great thinking guys.
