Thanks Side Show.  Well that really is small time.  I see this as a ”must do” for the AD.  Exposure is a principal reason to play ina bowl game.  Exposure for the teams playing.  Not the stadium.

You're welcome. If you go, I hope you have a great time. And I do hope that we win. I just can't get behind this entire situation. I don't expect many around here to understand my position. And that's okay.

This team won 6 games… but was bottom 3 in the AAC in NIL. They had a one possession game against Memphis whose NIL budget is more than $2 million more than what UNTs is. UNT lost its top 4 RBs, starting LG, and Safety (best defensive player) and still over came to win six games. And all but one of those six wins came against team with larger NILs at the moment. This staff and players never made excuse and kept grinding. This team used 10 different offensive lines second most in the country. This time next year revenue sharing will be in place and it will even the playing field. We hired one of the young and upcoming dcs in the country who is going to be able to recruit talent.

GMG and cheer on UNT.

Every stat you posted is well documented. Every team played with injuries. None of our 6 wins were against a team that finished with a winning record. As for the NIL disparity, that doesn't give me much hope for next season. The fact remains this coach and AD aren't getting it done. In the end, it is about the results. And this bowl is just the latest example of the failure within our athletic department. Sorry, I still see no light at the end of this tunnel under our current leadership.

Cobb is an outstanding coach. Really, he is the only outstanding coach we have, and the only one I'd keep.

Don't know if this helps, but these teams of note will not be bowling this season.

Duke, Virginia, Fla. St., Kansas, Cincinnati,  Utah, Houston, UCF, Okla. St., Arizona, UCLA, Mich. St., Purdue, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Maryland, Auburn, Kentucky and Miss. St.

Like it or not, we're playing in a bowl. They're not. Go to our game and support our school.

Duke is playing in the Gator bowl

Youre right. They were 9-3. I stand corrected.

Well written! While I expected a 7 win season it still is within reach and if we fix our problems on defense I think we are moving in the right direction.

It's not jealously. It's just looks small time to play in their stadium, while they are in the playoffs. It isn't a weird take. You know the announcer are going to bring it up during the game. So, even if we win, we lose. If Mosley wasn't considering this perception when weighing our options, then he doesn't need to be our AD.

In my opinion it is very clear that only obvious undeniable failure is paid attention to.   If we flirt with 0.500 and beat the FCS team on our schedule and the coach is perceived as a likable person nothing else really matters.  They won’t make significant changes of any kind.  That is why I am taking a break from religiously going to games and trying to find road games on TV.  Just too frustrating when it most moves over the last 20 years seem to be chasing mediocre aspirations.  They are version of the Dallas Cowboys without the championships, fanbase, or revenue.  And their fans seem to continuously make excuses for them while programs newer to FBS level football and college football in general exceed their fans expectations.  So the current AD fits right in with the culture of Mean Green football imo and I won’t criticize him for doing so. 🤷🏽‍♂️

No. I will not be there. This is not my expectation.

But, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. If you feel this is good enough, go and have a ball. I do hope we win, but I won't be there for whatever the outcome is

Wow, playing at SMUs field would be the ultimate rub.

I dont think I would go to this game.

That is an odd thing to make a NT fan/alumni not go.  SMU aren’t are rivals and we shouldn’t feel some kind of way to about playing a bowl game in their stadium unless we were playing them in a bowl game. 🤷🏽‍♂️

I agree. But will still buy my season tickets again next year.

Your call, and no, this was not my expectation. I hoped for more and was very disappointed in our play, our coaching and the season in general. But hope springs eternal and the bowl is a chance at a new beginning. I realize there is a pretty good chance that I'll be disappointed again, but ill always support my school and bitch when things don't go well. That's just the way it goes.

Yeah you obviously missed the part about revenue sharing and leveling the playing field. 🫡

Haven't followed the thread. Just very happy I can finally make it to a game this year. Went to 4 last year but things didn't work out this year with my kids' baseball season plus other stuff. Alright got mine for the game!

I'm in. I wouldn't have traveled but since it's local it's basically another home game. All I have to do is take the afternoon off work and it's a couple of stops on the DART train for me. Go Mean Green.

I think you missed my other posts on why I feel this way. It isn't specifically the team that plays in it.

It won’t feel so homey when you are outnumbered by Bobcats 3 to 1. I have a sense they have done more to build school spirit in their general population.

I have to claim my free tickets from the SMU site. I'm limited to 4, yet when I click 4, it says to please select a quantity less than 5.   I'm pretty sure 4 is less than 5.

Idiots at $mut still can't count.

That's what they should have told Craig James.

Are you trying to gaslight us. SMU has been our rivals for most of this century. We had a long series with them. Of course, they're not our rivals anymore. AMU has now passed us by. And if we keep our low expectations others will soon pass us by too.

Not by me. This "bowl" is a turd.

Many of you don't want to read this, but I'm going to post it anyway because it needs to be said.....

North Texas went 1-5 to finish the season 6-6. I would have preferred Mosley turned the smu bowl down and kept the team at home, then accept this POS against Texas State. Maybe next season we will earn a real bowl, or get a real coach.

Mosley better buy all the students tickets he can get his hands on and bus the students over with the band, or Texas State will certainly have the home field advantage. (Personally, I doubt even our students want to watch this sh!tty bowl)

So, punish the players that busted their asses to play hard to the end of pretty much every game?
(Yes, exasperation/frustration did arise at the end of a couple of games.)

This despite many players being young due to injuries, simply outsized physically, or ill prepared due to poor coaching.

I disagree. Bowls are nothing more than exhibition games. Who knows how many of our players or Texas States' players will be in the Portal by kickoff. If we were getting a new beginning, we'd be searching for a new coach right now.

Sure, a new DC is on the way, but it's too late. I've lost faith in Morris. Unfortunately, when Seth followed a similar pattern, it took another 3 years for our AD got off his ass and fire him. Like I said, nothing I've seen this season from our athletic department has given me any reason to be hopeful about our future.

I guess I don't think about it that deeply.  My mind isn't really dwelling on who's home stadium it is.  I'm self employed, so I don't have co workers from around the metroplex hounding me about my games and any implications that come with them.

It's a bowl game in Dallas.  That's it.  I'm not thinking about who's home it is, even though I already know that.  I'm not thinking about SMU at all, and IMO it's weird that you take it that far.  Maybe I'm alone.

Have you seen SMU's attendance? It's not like they claim their places anyways lol.

San Marcos seems to have always supported their school much more than Denton.
Denton just seems to be a town that happens to have 45k+ young people visiting for 9-10 months out of the year while providing additional tax revenue.
