Man it really isn’t that deep. The stadium is just a vessel for the bowl game. It’s not “we get to play here because SMU is playing for bigger things”

Expand

It's not that it is that SMU plays there, it is the venue itself. As old as it is, I loved playing this bowl at the Cotton Bowl. So much history there.

I have to claim my free tickets from the SMU site. I'm limited to 4, yet when I click 4, it says to please select a quantity less than 5.   I'm pretty sure 4 is less than 5.

Idiots at $mut still can't count.

We do understand how bowl selection process works correct? Bowl games send invitations. Not like Mosley and co. get the pick of 6 bowls and opponents. Being in Dallas against another G5 Texas team has potential to be one of the better attended and watched bowl games. It will also have huge recruiting implications. Not to mention all the storylines that are built in to the game.

Not by me. This "bowl" is a turd.

Many of you don't want to read this, but I'm going to post it anyway because it needs to be said.....

North Texas went 1-5 to finish the season 6-6. I would have preferred Mosley turned the smu bowl down and kept the team at home, then accept this POS against Texas State. Maybe next season we will earn a real bowl, or get a real coach.

Mosley better buy all the students tickets he can get his hands on and bus the students over with the band, or Texas State will certainly have the home field advantage. (Personally, I doubt even our students want to watch this sh!tty bowl)

You're misrepresenting my view. It isn't that. It is that because our bowl will be at SMU, throughout the whole game viewers will be hearing ESPN's TV announcers fawn over SMU (selling viewers on the play-off games) while we struggle against a recent FCS call up. Screw that.

I imagine Texas State will bring a pretty good crowd.  It's an interesting matchup between two former Incarnate Word coaches and between two schools that spent a few decades joined at the hip.  I don't see any real reason to complain about the bowl itself or the matchup.

So, what bowl will you and Cougar Queen be attending?

Not disappointed with the bowl itself but I would have liked a higher caliber opponent. We should be playing teams like UH & Texas Tech, not SHSU and SWTSU if we really want to elevate our program.

Will the end zones read “North Texas” and Texas State”  or “smu” and “mustangs” ?  Seems like a recent bowl game played on a campus still had the school name in the end zones.

They have never written the teams names for this game since it moved to SMU. Like I said.... small time.

You sound like the La Tech fans when faced with playing La Monroe! And they've been condemned, shamed and now shunned ever since!

Expand

That's not true. They were among our biggest rivals in C-USA before we left for the AAC, and went bowling after passing on the Monroe game. LA Tech is down now because they don't have the money or market to move up, and Cumbie is a bad coach.
