This would be the worst possible ending to an already bad season.

I have zero interest is seeing North Texas play an FCS call up on SMU's home field, while the ponies are playing in the Playoffs. I really hope our AD has better sense than to go for this.

Just send us to New Mexico and give us our random MAC opponent.

Isn't UIW still in the FCS playoffs?  What am I missing?

In my humble opinion.....we should have been sent far off somewhere, to where our attendance didn't matter much. Sorry, but that five game losing skid, wasn't erased away by a win over Temple.

I think we could have a game in the Metroplex, and not sell 3,000 tickets to NT fans.

We fired our coach and had more than that show up in Frisco

We don’t want that.  They play decent football.

Yeah, but to be fair, there aren't too many bowl eligible teams that don't at least play decent football--at least in comparison to this current iteration of NT.

I for one would not go to Pony land. I am of the opinion that bowl is just to have another excuse to see a pretty bad team play in a stadium that is like a high school. Also, there is the very likely scenario we can't beat anyone we go against.

If we wanted a better bowl, we should have had a better record.

I don't view playing Albuquerque as better than playing in Dallas. And I don't view playing a MAC team as being better than facing a Belt team. But, the optics of the New Mexico Bowl against a MAC team, would be better for us.

This whole NIL/SMU in the CFP is shitty, but not jealousy shitty.

Thankfully, I don't think this weird take is on our AD's radar.

It's not jealously. It's just looks small time to play in their stadium, while they are in the playoffs. It isn't a weird take. You know the announcer are going to bring it up during the game. So, even if we win, we lose. If Mosley wasn't considering this perception when weighing our options, then he doesn't need to be our AD.

Yeah, because we fired our first Littrell and fans that had been sitting at home most of the season, had hope for our future, and came out for the bowl. Our second Littrell is still here, so we don't have any way to sell this bowl to disgruntle fans. UNT needs o be sent away for our bowl game. It would be the best thing for our program right now.

I hate SMU, but SMU isn’t our rival anymore. They just played Clemson on national TV and are in the 12-team playoff.
We should take the bowl game that gives us a chance to have respectable attendance and win, how SMU figures into that is no factor.

SMU has certainly passed us by. But, I disagree that we should accept our place as a lesser program, and be content with their crappy bowl. We have to want more, or we might as well close up shop and be a basketball school.

This is true. Yet many around here are content to make excuses for mediocrity, and accept second-class status in DFW.

This is my exact take on it also. I love my school, but I just can't stomach going to a game at SMU that isn't playing SMU.

All I can say is someone needs to tell Texas State and Rice.
