I want the New Mexico Bowl so just get us there. I want some 10,000 Waves and Meow Wolf in Santa Fe, luminario decorations on top of the hotels for the holidays, powder snow, roaring fireplaces and holiday craft cocktails. Throw in some green chile, lobo hoops if they are in town, and bang we have a destination bowl.

NM Bowl is fine, but I'd really rather play a MWC team instead of TXSt.

Again, the optics aren't favorable for NT when playing TXSt.:  Win, and "Eh, you're supposed to beat them".   Lose, and "Upstart TXSt. has passed NT by!!".

No one would think that. Everyone predicted TXST to be better than UNT this year.

You're talking about people with a deeper knowledge of CFB.  Of course it wouldn't surprise them.

I'm talking about casuals & everyone else.

I wouldn't mind making ABQ the NO Bowl run of this generation, but I selfishly want Shreveport for the shorter drive that would allow me to not have to switch work shifts the Sunday after.

The Alumni Association and university went all out on the last NM Bowl and it was a lot of fun. The later in December the better, more practice time 😉!

CBS Sports projects that we will play Texas State in the New Mexico Bowl. The unholy clash of two former Incarnate Word coaches.

Any chance they could move this to Waco?

(Central location between the two schools)

Texas St. ANOTHER upstart program has passed us by.  We still have better facilities, and conference.  But conference affiliation below the P4 only matters for media exposure that you have to capitalize on when you get a chance.

I guess I’m one of the few who doesn’t think they’ve passed us by.  Have they gained ground?  Sure. Will they bypass us? Maybe.  Other than the UTSA results, I just don’t see how they’ve bypassed us, and I think those results are an outlier.  Seems to me like UTSA was playing much better later in the season than they were early on.

Today's Sporting News has us in Ft. Worth playing North Carolina State.

This would be the best scenario IMO. Not quite a destination, but for this team, playing a lower ACC team to finish the season would be a great test.

Upstart? Texas State has been playing football since 1904. They won two national championships in Division II in 81 and 82. I'm guessing you are talking about their finally joining FBS in 2012. But my definition of "upstart" is the UTSA's of the world.
