I'm going because this represents the best opportunity for Guyer to beat Southlake.  Every time a team coached by a Dodge plays in a North Texas stadium they get beat.

Now that deserves an eye roll response.  🤦🏽‍♂️

You could go out to Prosper, Todd Dodge is the head coach of Lovejoy

No, I expect my Argyle Eagles to make short work of them.  This is one time Todd Dodge won’t have more resources than his opponent.

Why don't we lend our facilities out more often for high school playoff games? That goes for DATCU, the Super Pit, and even the soccer stadium. Getting more unaffiliated families on our campus and in our venues can only help.

it would mean the ADs office would actually need to work to attract other events, as well as the UNT Administration

You mean you brought into all that false advertising when they were drumming up support for the new stadium?   Something is absolutely rotten in the AD Office and isn’t someone’s microwaved fish lunch.   When EM is fired EVERYONE but the janitors, student interns and administrative assistants (secretaries) need to go with them.  Probably should hang on to the compliance officers also.

To the down voter: what specifically do you find fault with?  Got family or friends in the AD Offices?

Keep in mind this would require staff to come in outside their normal hours

Could be interesting. I watched Lovejoy out here in Midland a couple of weeks ago. Good team. A HS friend’s son plays for them. I had no idea Dodge had come out of retirement.

The playoff schools agree where they think a neutral site should be, then negotiate with the facilities’ owner for availability.   Stadium rentals are not free.  Parking, cleanup, security, concessions, etc.

Has our stadium ever hosted a concert? That was a big promise made in the push to get it financed.

Since then, streaming and other changes have forced musicians to go on tour all the time to make money. Here in St. Augustine, Florida, we had an amphitheater in a public park we were only using for a yearly state history play, and now The Amp is a major venue getting big-name acts all the time. DATCU would be a desirable concert venue.

Reckless Kelly played after the spring game several years ago.

Since I'm an old feller, I do remember when UIL basketball regionals used to be held at the Super Pit back in the 70s and early 80s.

I'm not even asking for concerts. There are already so many venues better suited for concerts in DFW. But at least get some playoff and neutral game action going. What is the stadium's usage like on a Thursday or Friday before a home game? Part of the money from the facility rentals could go to the sales staff's commission or paying overtime. Most of the other gameday staff could be supplied by high school volunteers. Don't NHS kids still need community service hours?

Maybe DATCU will finally get its first sellout?

Also, when they were pitching us on building a new stadium, one of my favorites was showing the ability to go and host actual bigger name opponents that wouldn’t come to Fouts, teams like Minnesota and Iowa…who we immediately signed a 2 for none deal with to play in Iowa. I guess someone thought Iowa was Indiana!!

Again, the high school teams select the site.   SFA didn't start the conversation, except to perhaps tell the UIL their stadium would be available for HS Playoffs.

When I was young, most of the HS playoff games I followed my school were held in college or pro stadiums around Texas.  I went to games in Lubbock, Waco, Austin, College Station, the Cotton Bowl, Texas Stadium, etc.
