Unless there's a very clear reason to, like Todd Dodge kinda seasons, I'm a firm believer in giving a guy 3 seasons. He's no better or worse so far than Coach Taylor, so bowl or not I'm fine with seeing what year 3 brings.

No, but I will let him sit at the grownup table next Thanksgiving

Ehh, maybe with a high chair.  That's IF he wins.

NT is the 8th 6+ win team in the AAC. And there are 8 tie in bowls to the AAC.

THE most un-excited I've  been about a bowl invite. That thing about never beating a .500 team (FBS) this year.....but if it's close I'll  go. Just for the beat down.

I wouldn't call for his head on a pike, but that's not the same thing as forgiving.  We've only ever won like 3 Bowl games ever, so a Bowl win (even if it's a lousy 4th tier game) would at least buy an offseason of quiet regarding his job.  I mean we know he isn't getting fired if he wins, and a Bowl win is still a big deal at NT (our HOD Bowl win over UNLV is near the top of my "saw in person" all-time sports upper tier).

Starting with his first loss next year though....

Winning this bowl game won’t and shouldn’t keep him off the hot seat. I think he’s aware that next season could be his last and that he’s fallen short of expectations. There’s no more excuses to be made. However, my question is if next season brings another 6-6 record and another bowl, would Jared keep him?

I think a repeat of this season would be enough for Jared to make a change.  It’s a much better financial position than it so now.

Now, if that bowl win leads to an undefeated streak next season and a playoff spot, then yeah—maybe, just maybe, I’ll consider forgiving the sins of the past.

A guy can dream, can’t he?

Nope. A win over a fellow G5 6-6 or 7-5 finisher would be nice, but in the grad scheme of things doesn’t mean much. Would still like to finish with a winning record for a change.

Our sights should be to next season already and building a program to challenge Tulane for conference supremacy.

Play in the AAC title game next year and then all past sims are forgiven.

Worse. We were in the conference championship game with 9 wins in year 2 under “Coach Taylor”.

Mean Green Ryan Day still hasn’t met the success level of his predecessor’s last season (a season in which he was fired).

Realistically speaking, if we win a bowl game this year, and go another mediocre 6-6 next season but win another bowl game, I think he sees a Year 4. He would have 40% of UNT's all-time bowl wins.

But look at next year's schedule:

Home vs. Lamar, South Alabama, Washington State, Navy, South Florida, Temple, UTSA

Away at Western Michigan, Army, Charlotte, UAB, Rice

#Hit6 should be lower than the floor with that schedule. We should be competing for a spot in the CCG.

That'll be the most telling part of this hire. Unless some p4 AD gets super wasted and hires him away, he's here next year. With that schedule, if you aren't playing the CCG, that should be an automatic resignation. Much less a firing

Essentially, this is the SL philosophy all over again. I mean, we are who we are and this is probably all the administrators are looking for…being just good enough to qualify for a low-tier bowl game. And, despite next year’s schedule, I just don’t have the confidence in an EM led club to mark wins down on stone. He looks lost, out coached and well in above his head. Everyone seems to have adjusted to the air raid…except for EM.

Yeah which conference was that? Eric Morris just had to play 3 ten-win teams 3 weeks in a row.

His last win before yesterday  was October 12th…let that sink in
