Feel free to stop by the locker room and let these guys know.

you don’t have to like how the season went (most don’t).  You don’t have to think the coaches did the job that was expected of them (most don’t). But you can’t S on the players for achieving and celebrating a milestone, no matter how unworthy you think it might be.

Be better.

Really, bro?  Do you REALLY want to go down that rabbit hole?

It’s facts. I remember years ago at the GMG basketball fundraiser game when Benford was coach they had players guest ref. One of them said “oh yall are those old me who talk shit about us and our coaches huh haha”. I mean players and families read these boards. It’s a huge slight to them when we people talk bad about the team.

If you are stating that .500 teams should not go to bowl, I agree.  However, if .500 are allowed in bowls, than NT absolutely deserved to be included.

I guess I’m saying that in the era of expanded playoffs, the goal posts for success have forever moved. Random Bowls don’t matter anymore. Our focus and bar for success should be playing in AAC title games and legitimately competing for the G5 playoff spot. Not backing ourselves into bowl eligibility.

Kind of the price of playing any sport, you are judged.

In all honesty, they need to grow thicker skin.  Coaches are making a shitload of money, players now to, playing and coaching a fking sport.  People like you and I donate THOUSANDS of dollars to allow them to play said sport.  We are allowed to be critical when necessary.  It's OUR money that is funding this.

And those very people who "talk bad" are probably the same motherfkers who will be in the stands for the next game.

Pretty rich for players or coaches coming from that era of North Texas basketball to criticize anything related to our fans - considering they collectively torpedoed our program. Thank god for Grant and Ross.

I agree although they will take it tough. I am anti NIL but get an ear full about it at work from coaches and former players lol. I will still be anti NIL. I get it, but it becomes a beating and I’m assuming we would want to try to motivate and keep some players on the team.

If I were a player or coach, this isn't the way IMO.

Should have told them that they appreciate the comments, even if it's not in agreement.  It means people actually give a shit.  Reinforce to your base that we're both on the same side here, caring for the same school.  Wanting wins.  Find common ground.

I agree to an extent; however it’s not necessary to always just bash. I am not saying that’s what you do; however in this instance the players and coaches are excited to have made it this far. No reason to rag on them now.

How is it shitting on the players to say the team shouldn't go to a bowl game.

My apologies as I didn’t meant to strike a nerve.  Wasn’t my intentions and was out of line.  I chose my words poorly and didn’t mean to take a shot at Rudy.  Just didn’t want any shots taken at those kids, directly or indirectly.

this has been a crap season for all of us, none more so than those in that lockerroom.  Guess I just got a little verklempt 😂 when I saw them celebrating with shirts after the game.  Had to be a huge weight lifted from their shoulders.

again, my apologies and GMG.

I mean shit, I'd love to get paid a ton of money to play a sport full time, use top notch workout facilities for free, receive top notch health care, have free meals and a place to stay, and all the other perks, PLUS a free education.  I love what I do, but I'd take all of that over possibly getting shot, hit by a dumbass not paying attention while they are driving, being yelled at and degraded because I'm not doing what they feel I should do for less than $100k.  That's not including the incoming shitstorm if I make a mistake.

So yeah, no sympathy from me.

Name the bowl eligible team you believe we will beat if matched up against them.

We got in. Have some faith there might be another bowl-eligible team with our dodgy pedigree.

Not sure how you took his comment as a direct shot at the players? And he’s objectively right. We don’t really “deserve” it. Barely, and I mean BARELY going .500 is nothing to pound our chest about. We started this season 5-1. This has been a colossal disappointment. We’re fans - we fund this perpetually disappointing program (today’s performance included). We can literally criticize anything we want.

You be better.

Not picking aside but we need to only count games vs FBS competition when citing a 0.500 record.   Beating 7-5 FCS Stephen F. Austin in September shouldn't factor into becoming "Bowl Eligible".  This program is 5-6 vs FBS competition.  That is a losing program.  But losing programs get to go to bowls.  I am sure every FBS team we beat this year beat the FCS team on their schedule.

Hell if we count those games towards bowl eligibility, I think it would be way more intriguing to have the 4 losers in the second round of the FCS playoffs take the place of the bottom 4 "bowl eligible" FBS teams.

I'm happy that they get to play in a game...provided they don't "opt out", and I'll will probably burn ANOTHER vacation day to go watch the game.

That said, I will bash the staff that deserve it.  They are grown ass men, and it's primarily their responsibility that we barely made it.

If the other team is actually motivated with 90% of their best players not opting out, you think we win?

I think I prefer the scoreboard over hypotheticals. We won. Our defense held them to 17 points after our offense fell apart, which is a nice change after Caponi. Are we great? No. Are we good? Can't go that far either. But at least we can go for seven wins instead of ending the season with no bowl and complete ruin.

It's a bigger slight to them to be on a bad team.

We shouldn't make it personal when talking about athletes and coaches, but there is nothing wrong with criticizing the product on the field.

Yep. Look at the apathy at Temple with that cavernous nearly empty stadium. Angry fans still give enough of a shit to care. Bet that school would take an angry fan base that puts their butts in the seats over what they got today.

Rudy is a nice guy. Almost 2 decades ago at a road game in Norman he worked to get people to sit so an elderly couple could be able to view the game while sitting. It was pouring rain.

Maybe that's why that era of basketball was so bad. No dogs.

An angry fanbase with butts in seats are just a bunch of suckers if the program isn't serious about winning which I don't think Temple is. 🤷🏽‍♂️

"The Owls were a football-only member of the Big East Conference from 1991 until 2004. Temple was expelled from the league due to a lack of commitment to the football program from university officials."

- Second paragraph on from the Temple Football Wikipedia page.

They failed to replace Matt Rhule.
