I would have already fired Morris but if he stays it needs to be with several conditions.

1) hand over play calling duties to an OC, either bringing in someone or elevating Davis or Cobbs to the position. (I think Davis already has the title but we know it is meaningless).

2) bring in a new ST coach

3) replace the strength and conditioning staff. Too many injuries this season and the team is gassed by the end of the game and getting steamrolled.

4) new DC needs to run a system that can stop the run and must be able to adapt throughout the season to account for opponents and personnel losses.

And all of the above needs to be overseen by the AD’s office. And no contracts for more than one year.

Obviously this means replacing most of the staff, which at its core means we should really fire Morris and bring in an experienced HC who already knows how to build a staff. But if we are being cheap, at least the assistants don’t require buy outs. I would also like to see the AD renegotiate Morris’ contract to reduce the base salary/buyout and increase the incentives for accomplishments, including bowl wins and championships.

And let Eric's agent pound all his connections for an P4 OC job.  If we can offset his buyout with a salary from another job they might be able to afford the buyout.  And for heaven's sake stop giving 5 year contracts you can't afford to get out of after 2 years.  MAYBE if you are hiring a proven head coach that built a historical loser G5 team in the South into getting into conference championship games and bowl wins you give that guy a 5 year contract.

I can’t get over how the offense just dies all of a sudden. As soon as they lose (or can’t establish) a rhythm they’re obsolete for an entire quarter and a half. (Ex: Memphis when the defense actually held and made them go 3 and out multiple times before the flood gates opene; Army when they couldn’t do anything the whole game; ECU and the abysmal 3rd quarter; heck even against Tulane they were only up by like 3 before the end of the half and got super lucky with multiple short field positions due to mistakes).

The statistics for the offense feels hollow. Super explosive but no capability to sustain a slow, clock bleeding drive. Which means short time of possession and longer time for the defense to be out there. I guess live by the air raid, die by the air raid. (And they’ve been consistently dying)

As some have mentioned before, it feels like a gimmicky offense. Tons of WR screens and short passes allowing for YAC. They use an up tempo style so they can have more plays to run and inflate the stats even more. Problem is, we don’t have good, quick, fast WRs. They’re terrible at blocking screens and they drop too many damn balls. EM’s play calls are simple to figure out. Run screens/short passes to the LOS on 1st & 2nd downs, run the ball to the back of an OL on 3rd & long, go for it on 4th down with another screen.

You mean…accountability? Nah…that would mean admitting they’re wrong.

Eric Morris is a joke. We should be waking up to the news of his firing. Jerod Mosley needs to fix this or he needs to go with him. I bit the bullet and bought club tickets this year, and I won’t be doing it again. Complete apathy is about to hit this program hard.

It hit me after last year when they didn't get rid of Craponi.

3 year contracts from now on.  1 year extensions for bowl appearances.  Yesterday was a Portland State level embarrassment.

No. Just no.

In this scenario, Morris would have received an extension for beating Temple next week.
