DT Sheffield has been having a great year: 62 receptions, 775 yards receiving, 10 receiving touchdowns, one rushing touchdown.

But today…

He had a horrible fumble that likely caused a 14-point swing in the final score.

He dropped an easy, wide open pass with nothing but green turf in front of him that would have been an easy touchdown.

Then, on the final drive of the game, with the season potentially on the line, Sheffield is on the sidelines for first down, second down and third down. Goes into the game on fourth down and is no factor.

Does Eric Morris not have enough faith in his best player to allow him to work through his mistakes?

Or is DT Sheffield just a transfer portal knucklehead who can’t be trusted?

He hasn't been a factor in the last 3 games, Also our QB hasn't been as accurate as well.

He's already out on X apologizing to everyone.

While I hate seeing dropped passes, I refuse to roast this young man.  He's been a pleasant surprise in this otherwise mediocre season.

Sheffield dropped some passes, but this loss isn't on him. He wasn't sending in bad plays for the offense, or playing on the defensive side of the ball, or kicking field goals tonight. When a team has as many issues as we had tonight, the blame falls squarely on the coaches.

Our opponents have figured out our one dimensional offense and our middle school head coach.

You are correct, lets not dog the players, they can only do what the coaches allow. Defense is poorly coached, OLine is atrocious, Playcalling Sucks and constantly puts the team behind the 8 ball. Dropped passes were horrible tonight but when there is no accountability from the HC or rest of the staff

Some P4 coach will say that this showed them how much heart Sheffield has whenever they pay him to leave here.

I have no doubt he is gone along with half of the roster.  It's just a fact of life where we are with football, and some players that know they are transferring are going to start shutting things down early (not just at UNT, but something we definitely struggle with here).  Not really anything we can do about it unless we start playing big in the NIL arena.

Didn't he come in a play or two after the DPI call on the 3rd down pass to Conwright?

I agree with you though that it was bizarre. I was searching for him on the sidelines and wondering why he wasn't in the game. It's a complete head-scratcher even after sleeping on it.
