I played baseball and coached softball.  No football so I’m lacking the game plan knowledge.

I realize there only 2, potentially 3 games left.   Know you can’t install a new system or overhaul.  But there can be some tweaks, I’m sure.

historically, what kind of defenses was Odom associated with?  4-man fronts?   Blitzing?  Heavy man-coverage?

Will we / can we notice a difference as we close out the season?   The players will notice a difference, I’m sure, but will we?

Honest answers and discussion.

He coached under Alex Grinch, who ran a base 3-4/3-3-5 -- He's a 3-4 guy if I had to pick a scheme. But it's more "multiple" and not dogmatic.

Per the ESPN article when Grinch was hired at Wisconsin.

Washington State ranked 99th in total defense in 2014, the year before Grinch was hired as defensive coordinator. The Cougars improved to 84th in 2015, 62nd in 2016 and 16th in 2017.

The Sooners ranked 114th in total defense the year before Grinch's arrival but improved to 38th in 2019 and 29th in 2020 before sliding to 76th in 2021.

Don't look up the USC tenure, it's similar to Caponi's time here.

Yeah I wrote about it this afternoon. I don't know that Odom is or should be the guy going forward. He will be for the next two games (maybe three) and I expect he will be running the same things. I think he's a 3-4 guy anyway from his days at Missou etc. But it doesn't mattter so much to me.

You have quite unique comments on there…

Do you know why?  He was willing to add an LB, add a 4th DL, but this was beyond him?  Any insight?

Perhaps he just didn’t know what he was doing.

Don't know what he's going to run but it must be multiple front.  Gotta show pressure at times and bring it.  Gotta show pressure at times and drop out.  Keep them guessing!  Must hide blitzes and disguise coverages.  A pass-rush is a DB's best friend. Try not to let them know where you are coming from or what coverage you're going to be in!

It's easier said than done but right now EVERYONE knows what we are in and what we are doing!
