Until Coach Keebler learns that the offense needs to complement the defense.....I'm not sure how much is gonna change.

You can't constantly be going for it on 4th down. You need to play field position. You need to learn to "tilt the field" occasionally. You need to take 3 when it's available.

So not sure that firing Caponi solves all our probs.

Completely agree.

Sort of chicknshit to fire him so late in the season.  Seems like Morris is trying to find a scapegoat.  Same for Mosley.

When Mike Norvell fired his OC, DC and WR coach last Sunday, this was the rationale for why it happened when it did:

But the timing of the firings is what is most noteworthy. The new college football early signing period has forced teams to rethink their timeline for coaching changes, and like most other schools in the country, FSU had to make a decision now in order to salvage their current class as it stands.

And then they lost more top recruits.

This reeks of Morris trying to save his hide.

I feel like that’s why/when coordinators are often fired.

Yep, too little, too late. This reeks of Morris trying to save his hide.  We need a thorough house cleaning.

Exactly what I was thinking. He is finally feeling the heat, but it is too late. He should have made changes a year ago.

Morris needs to go too. It is his program and he let it get this bad. It is on him at this point.

For years, we've been told by coaches and Athletic Directors, that every coach needs a 5 year contract. Otherwise, they can't recruit......because the kids want to know that the coach will be there for all of his/her playing career.

In the day and age of The Portal....isn't the "it must be a 5 year contract" thing.....moot???

How long is Morris' contract?

5 years. 3 more years left....at $4.5 million over those three years.

Morris is still in good shape. His team is fun to watch and he just posted one of the highest attended games in program history. He also has a chance to win a bowl game. Something that hasn’t happened here in too long.
All he has to do is get the defense to slightly above average and we have a legitimate conference contender and excitement heading into next season.

Step 1 hire art briles as head coach
Step 2 hire gary patterson as defensive coordinator
Step 3 hire zack orr as offensive coordinator

Step 4 enjoy some wins

Zach Orr is a defensive guy.

I agree with this. I understand he made these decisions, but a lot of good coaches have bad hires. Now if this one fails.....

They utilized a reasonable formation last week…and then arrogantly abandoned it

Well Army rarely passes so it made sense to use a 4 man front. We just don't have enough good players on defense so I expect ECU to pick up where UTSA left off.

I appreciate Morris’ honesty and lack of coach speak. I would like to see him succeed here but he has to dial back the aggressiveness on fourth downs a tad. I think getting the defense squared away will help greatly just by taking pressure off of the offense where they feel they have to score every possession.
I am intrigued to see what Odom does with this group the remainder of the year. He has a pretty solid resume.

We rarely get pressure without blitzing people and leaving gaps in our coverage. Moving, I hope, to a four man front and running a more traditional system should help. I don’t think this is purely a talent issue. I think we have very capable players on D that are being put into a system that they’ve never played.
