It usually works that way.  Lose to good teams and beat bad ones.

I hope you stick with the team, but if it is too much torture, be like many others and give up.

As a long mostly suffering fan, over fifty years, NT is my team.   I didn't go to UT or A&M and couldn't care less about them and other the perennial powers.

As far as your coach record comparison, Dodge was a bargain basement hire and didn't have a chance.  McCarney was the first football hc that was hired with a competitive compensation package.  Unfortunately, he had serious health issues and was a failure.  Littrell and Morris were upgrades but certainly not proven D1 hcs.

I have not entirely given up on Morris, although the last game was a horrible coaching job.  The defensive coordinator basically was fired by his defensive players.  They are either/or not very talented or were poorly coached.  Ether way the Defensive Coordinator is responsible.

NT has two very winnable games left.  Two wins and a good showing in any bowl would make this year at least a limited success.

Yeah, you’re right.  We should just accept and settle for mediocre teams and embarrassing coaching performances on a national stage.  That shows our undying loyalty for the program and we should just shut up and stay out of it.

NT being “our” team doesn’t mean we can’t voice our displeasure over the absolutely disgusting performance.  UTSA does not have near the resources we have and yet they beat us because we have poor leaders who make tons of money and provide terrible results both on and off the field.

And I could give two shits about getting to another crappy bowl game against a crappy opponent.  That’s what they hope this Caponi firing will do, take our eyes off the embarrassment in San Antonio and 5 straight game losing streak.  Get ready for it.  The well staffed propaganda machine will be demanding we recognize and appreciate what an amazing accomplishment another six win bowl team is.

This was so embarrassing. From 5-1 to 5-5 is just unfathomable. And we’ve looked like garbage for most of these losses. I think I’m just over this experiment. I watched the recent Dan Campbell clip where he’s describing his team’s identity, and he references having put “Grit” on the wall as a constant reminder of who/what is at the core of the team’s identity. We completely lack grit. A very soft, sloppy, undisciplined team and program overall.

What is North Texas’ program identity? The only thing we appear to excel at is finding new and creatively embarrassing ways to disappoint our fans.

This is pretty much spot on. I was coming here to post my disappointment and after reading your post I decided just to echo your sentiments.  Sad days for UNT fans.

It is obvious that no one is stopping you from voicing your displeasure with the program.

I also wonder where you get anyone is happy with the season.

As for as the resources, there is no way that you know that to be true, unless you know their NIL numbers and their real budget.  Hint, what is reported can be made to look about anyway you want by manipulating the numbers.

I am truly regretful that NT is likely not going to be invited to the Rose Bowl and will be relegated to a subpar bowl and opponent.

I agree with your entire post, but wanted to highlight this statement.  I’ve thought since the Memphis game that our offense isn’t elite.  I’m oversimplifying, but we often either score on a big play or we don’t score.  On top of that, if I’m not mistaken, we’ve been in the red zone six times in the past two games and have 3 points to show for it (2 INT’s and 4 turnover on downs).

I agree. I was shamed weeks ago for pointing out our offense is explosive but inconsistent and therefore not great. It's the truth though and I blame the playcalling in part.

I'm starting to wonder if EM's offensive tactics have been figured out by the other coaches or he's just making some horrible play calling.  Not only unsustained drives, but too many 3(or 4) and outs.

Offense lacks a vertical passing game. People have raved about the top 5 offense in passing yards per game but per the NCAA website and ESPN (NCAA is more precise with some of the numbers), CM is 48th in yards per completion at 12.37 YPC, 41st in yards per attempt at 7.85 YPA, 45th in completion percentage at 63.7%, and tied for second in pass attempts at 422. The numbers show we don't push the ball downfield as much as others and that we aren't efficient enough considering how little we do that. Being top 5 in passing yards is simply a volume stat at this point. We just throw a ton. Screens are great but when it's most of what you do, it gets dicey. Those and run plays start off as negative yardage plays dependent on blocking. Can't have those every drive.

About teams figuring out EM, our competition has gotten better.
